Stranded in Buenos Aires

Are flights out of Ezeiza to Santiago de Chile available, LATAM , Aerolineas Arg, etc. Available
And who may enter Chile?

Hi everyone, we are two 64 year old guys caught up in the travel restrictions here in Argentina, We arrived in the country on the 11th, just a day before the government announcement. We are self-isolating in an apartment we were able to obtain, but doubt this is at all sustainable for more than a few days. Meanwhile, we await the resumption of flights out of BA. Tried LATAM, but not ideal to travel via Brazil, which has far more cases than Argentina.
We would really, really, appreciate any advice, assistance or simply support from expats out there in BA.
Thank you so much
Phil G
We (Brito+Argentina) arrived on the same day. We had been watching the storm clouds gather for a couple of weeks and had even considered booking an earlier flight to make sure we got in before the shutters came down. In our case, we wanted to stay and got here just in in time.

If you haven't done so already, make contact with the Embassy here. You will find links from fco.gov.uk According to the Guardian newspaper the FCO is thinking about getting around to repatriating the many thousands of Brits who want to come home from the rest of the world and if they don't know where you are they can't factor you into their calculations. That doesn't mean you shouldn't keep making your own efforts at getting out and others on this board have much more experience of working the airline system than I have.

You are each on the borderline of what Argentina considers the virus at-risk age here so if you have any underlying health issues, take care. If you have any health problems and/or any issues with your travel insurance be reassured that - whatever others might say - the public health system here will treat you at least as well as the NHS.

Good luck to both of you.

Hi

How about your whereabouts?
Maybe someone can help with do's and dont's, suggest delivery services, cuevas or even provide you some relief stuff if you need it (meds, spare clothing, whatdafuckdoiknow).

Just saying.

Good luck and stay posted.

Thank you. Yes, we have regular contact with the embassy and they have all our details. We hope that at the end of our 14 day self-isolation we can move into an hotel where we can have basic needs met and again keep ourselves safe. Thankfully, we are both in reasonalby good health and, of course, show no signs of infection.

It is frustrating that the British government has not yet initiated repatriation for citizens abroad. More so, given that aircraft and crew are clearly available with otherwise grounded aircraft. Also, with the government simply recommending getting out by any means, which basically means LATAM from BA and flying via Sao Pualo, it simply risks exposing people to the virus, particularly so with the rates of infection far higher in Brazil.

Hi 64 year old guys.....where are you in the city?
Hi, El Salvador CABA C1414. The advantage of the apartment is that it has fast internet. We plan to move into an hotel on completion of our 14 day self-isolation, but things are changiong all the while of course.
Thank you

brazil has 428 cases but 5 times the population of Argentina more or less. The rate of infection is actually the same in Argentina if not worse per capita . Uruguay surprisingly is now the worse country in South America with 79 cases for 3.5 million habitantes .

yes you are right ! I was shocked to read that uruguay has now 79 cases much more than Argentina per capita .
Just a few days ago I was saying to a friend that uruguay was safe as it had no cases . It went up very quickly from zero .

Actually, we tried to get out on Sunday to Uruguay, with a view to catching the BA flight out of Montevideo, but were stopped and told we could not fly until we had completed our 14 day self-isolation.

flights to Brazil ( several carriers apart from LATAM or Aerolineas) and Panama ( Copa) are still open. Especially flights to Panama are super cheap now.

Get there and take a connecting flight.
It seems as though LATAM are suspending flights to after the "short-weekend"
