we were taking our son to a birthday party today and picked up another child. The boy was saying he was going to a submarine later on, and that his grandmother had been on a submarine too, She had also been to China.

My question is, is there another submarine here in Argentina where kids can visit it?

duno the navy had two identical ones ARA San Juan , that sunk, and ARA Salta a twin Submarine... Kids visits? In Mar del Plata Navy Base

The twin to the missing one is the ARA Santa Cruz. Both were of the TR-1700 class. The ARA Salta is an older/smaller IKL-209 type. So there are two submarines left. But in terms of submarine as museums that kids can visit, I am afraid there is none in Argentina.

If you go to Rio de Janeiro, there is the submarino museu Riachuelo (S-22), which is an older British build Oberon class sub. Quite interesting for those who like it, specially kids.
As a side note, Brazil just rolled out its newest domestically build submarine, also called Riachuelo (S-40). Its design also serve as the basis for the upcoming nuclear powered one, expected to be completed by the next decade.
