While viewing this video today, I realized that my debit card functions with the "tap and pay" method.
Has anyone had money disappear from their bank account without their knowledge using this new device?
This is the best reason I know to not carry a debit or credit card unless you plan to use it.

Many modern wallets have a shield that prevent undesired rf readers reach your card. The "big head" says something along these lines in the last 10 sec of the segment. He says something like "metallic wads"...is more sophiticated than that, but yeah, they work.

Paranoia strikes deep.
Most of the industrialized world uses tap to pay for the majority of its transactions.
There is a tiny bit of fraud, sure.
But I use it all the time in the USA and Argentina both.
I used it twice yesterday alone.
Thousands of times in total.
You are more likely to get hit by an electric scooter, or a falling brick.

globally its pretty ho-hum, and has been for a long time. China, for example, is a huge contactless payment country. Sweden has considered getting rid of cash entirely.

Tech wise, Argentina seems to be a little behind the rest of the world. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, just a personal observation. Personally, I suggest paying by credit card with your phone when possible. Stay safe and have fun out there.

I don’t think it’ll catch on here, everyone is so used to paying with QR

You need to be careful paying by QR, it's too easy to paste a fake QR over the real one.
This.
Also, some people are so keen to finish the transaction that they skip right past the intermediate step which displays the true destination URL of the QR code.
