I am wondering if any forum members are teaching English online? How about pay and hours compared to traditional face to face classes? Any companies you would recommend?

I teach English for language market buenos aires. Although I teach face to face I know they are now offering virtual classes.

I'm not sure about the pay or the hours, sorry. For face to face classes they pay around 70 per hour.

In 2008 I met an American fellow in Mendoza who was teaching Korean children online. He was making $15 US per hour. If I can think of the name of the company he was working for I'll post it.
I'd say you can make more money teaching for the Asian market than Lat Am.

Good luck, nikad!

Nikad,

I am taking Spanish class online. There is a company in Portland that organize the teachers in Latin America, they charge 10-15 dollars per house. All the teachers are booked and they quit their normal school jobs , just teach online.

There are a few people that teach Spanish online in BsAs, they charge 10-20 dollars.

The online English teachers in US charge about the same, 15-25.

There are actually people who are willing to take classes online. If you are a native teacher, you might want to advertise yourself on Mercadolibre. It's especially hard for working people who live in the Buenos Aires province to find a teacher to go to their house that is native, and they don't have time to do it in Capital. If you and the client have a decent internet connection, it works well and you can still charge almost what you charge for a class in a business or at someone's home, without the hassle and expense of travel.
