The player who committed this senseless act should expect something that is quite common in this part of the world: a kickback.

Supposedly there aren't animal cruelty laws there, so he should be fine with the law. However, he will get suspended for a bit to appease the protesters. And he will learn from this. He will learn never to kick an owl in front of witnesses.

That's how it works in most of the world.

The fact that the bird was the mascot of the opposing team, lived at the stadium and had just been previously injured by a ball makes it particularly dispicable.

After watching the video, it wasn't as bad as I thought. He kicked to lift and send on its one (or "get the hell off the field"), not to injure. This was obvious. He scooped, he didn't stomp or kick straight.

I'm not saying that he should have done it, but after watching it, it seems much less egregious that it had been made out to be.

I do not think it is fair to judge all football players that way.

Yes, there are jerks, but not a greater percentage than the general population. It is just that they are in the news.

However, some are very good human beings. I have meet quite a few professional football players, and many are gentleman in the truest sense.
