The Senior Apartments

The few residents I have talked with so far in The Senior Apartments have family members living in the US who are paying for them to live well during the last years of their lives.

Yesterday I met a woman who recovered from a stroke and is enjoying life at 92. We had a long conversation. Tomorrow there will be a live show after dinner in the dining room. I may stop by to see it.

The website has photos of activities from 2022. The only thing they don't have on their schedule yet is live transmissions of concerts at Teatro Colon, Congreso, etc. in the "movie room." So far I know three women who studied piano, and I am certain there are more.

The two women I know attended a university and had careers as a medical doctor in BsAs and a school director in San Isidro. Their family members living in the US can afford the best for their mothers in Buenos Aires.

There are a few places run by the Jewish community that offer assisted living, another renowned one is called Edificio Manantial in Belgrano.
I visited Manantial 15 years ago when I was looking for places for my mother. I was very impressed. Of course, expensive

I was actually watching a news report a few weeks ago and they were talking about how love hotels ( telos ) are quietly going out of business in the city and how developers and companies are acquiring these buildings to turn them into assisted living facilities.

Why are they going out of business? People can't afford sex anymore?

All these sound so expensive. Is there a list I can look at (preferably with prices)?
Is there a list in your home country?

In my home country, the prices of these sorts of services are usually a closely guarded secret until the mark has more or less irrevocably committed to buy.

The outdoor terrace is my favorite part of The Senior Apartments on Av. Corrientes. It's the perfect place for conversations with the two women I visit there.

recently I looked at prices of places like this....for a friend, you know ;)

near Philly a very good place is in Lancaster, with options ranging from independent living to nursing care. Independent living in a one BR apartment is around 3400usd/month...plus an extra 1700 for an additional person....BUT there is a sizeable buy-in of about 200k

in northern PBA, where I hang out when I am in Argentina, a friend has a 90+ relative in a nursing place, one of the better of that area. Is nice, loots of greenery, out in the country, good service, but rooms are a bit small and shared. About 1500usd/mo for this person, no buy-in
