Impossible. Argentina is not THAT smart.

I think the report is a little - shall we say?- disingenuous by suggesting that other countries are depriving the USA of money. No money crosses borders in a tariff regime. The money stays in the USA but instead of going from US based importers into the US Treasury (or whatever happens to tariff payments) it stays in the pockets of the US based customers. This POTUS has always shown a penchant for tariffs but many economists believe there are better ways of levelling the playing field between trading nations than taxing your own citizens.

I suppose there are some possible items this would work on- maybe Chinese made BMW parts, for example, since Chinese BMW has 3 major auto factory complexes in China, and over 400 suppliers making genuine BMW parts.
but in most cases, Chinese products landed in Argentina are already more expensive than similar chinese products in the USA, leaving no room for markup and profit.

If Argentina had any sense, they would export the stuff made here that is better quality than chinese, and would incur lower tariffs...
oh well.

It’s typical with this US administration. They pretend to be outraged over something so they can justify the tariffs on all exports from Argentina and other countries.
