I didn't see another thread on the topic, but I just found out that there's now a 2 (TWO) Peso Coin!!

It's just a little bigger than the 1 Peso coin and the Silver & Brass/Gold (?) metals are reversed.

The guy at the VOLTA where I saw it (yes, I'm cheto like that) told me that they won't work on buses.

Who knew?

In this photo below, it shows the year 2010. Is that when they were first released? Or are they finally out in honor of the bicentenario?

They were supposed to begin circulation a several weeks ago. I want to say in early January or late December. I've yet to see one.

Speaking of new circulation, there was some talk about a 200 peso bill for the bicentennial as well. Obviously that hasn´t happened.

NO ONE would take the thing.

about the 200 bill some economist on the tv said it would encourage "the inflation feeling" so for now that`s a no go.

A $500 note would be more realistic.

Sooner or later, having goat's milk, chicken eggs, and/or homegrown veggies to trade will be more realistic. :p

They've been around for a long time, just pretty rare. I've only seen a couple in the last year and a half.

It's only a matter of time, $100s would be fine if this country didn't run inexplicably on cash. Nobody will take a check, only about half of the places take credit cards. People pay rent in cash? I felt like a drug dealer the other day paying my rent, why can't I just pay via wire transfer.

Strange land.
