Tips on extending Tourist Visa

Great tips markbsas, thanks for sharing. I went to renew my visa today, and the only thing I would add to your description is that you have to enter the 'garage' to get to building 6. Also, never go on a Monday as all the people backed up from the weekend go.

Hmm...this is all very helpful and also stressful! I am coming up on my 2nd visa, so 180 days here. I went to Colonia last time, and I don't really feel like going there again. However, I'm wondering how much the fine is if you do overstay your 90 days? And better yet, what if I overstay the next 90 days because I'm leaving for good in June? Is all this info word of mouth or is there any written official info?

If you are leaving for good in June, just pay the $300 peso fine when you leave.

You will have to pay ($300 total even if you overstay by more than 90 days), and there is nothing whatsoever to worry about.
