Transitory Visa?

Hi everybody,

I have been in talks with my employer to come and spend 3 months in Argentina this year, as they permit me to spend time working outside of the country each year and I've done so previously in BA and loved it. I already have close friends there, and a deal on housing for the time there, so I have all that covered. Previously, I had applied (with them) for the nomad visa, which is what I did in 2024, but they can no longer sponsor this as they have a legal entity in the country, and so they are saying I will need to apply for the transitory residence visa in order to do this given I already spent 3 months there last year.

I'm curious to hear from any of y'all who have done this before, the details, how to apply, and the cost, as I can't find anything under this specific visa online anywhere, They are telling me that it will cost $1,000 which seems high to me. They also are telling me that I am unable to leave the country at any point while I am on this visa, or else I will have to pay for it again, which is a bummer as someone close to be lives in Brazil and I was hoping to go for one weekend to see them. If the visa wasn't that expensive, I wouldn't mind paying it again to do that, but I don't make nearly enough to drop $1,000 twice (I'm not even sure if I make enough to where paying it once is worth it at that cost). I'm also not sure if this is something I need to work with my employer on, or if it's something I do on my own? Or is it something where I enter on a tourist visa and then do it once I'm in the country?

Anyways, if any of y'all have done this before I would love to hear from you. Thank you so much and hope you have great evenings!
