Travel Possibilities?

Appreciate the info. Do you know if tourism within the province is allowed? Can i go to Mar de Plata, for example? at this point seeing anything but the inside of Buenos Aires would be a refreshing change of pace.

I think in reality if you asked the minister of travel homself/herself, they wouldn't even be able to tell you.

It's AR nothing makes sense.

According to this, rules explicitly say you can go to many places, including del plata which may be the same as Mar del Plata (anyone know for sure?):

In the Buenos Aires metropolitan area (AMBA), coronavirus cases have now been in decline for eight weeks. As from Monday, people in the region have been able to circulate freely, though public transport is still reserved for essential workers.

Anecdotally.. I know someone that drives to Mar del Plata occasionally. Said there are no control stops along the way. Sent some photos.. bikers riding along paths next to the coast.. looks beautiful.

While we are on the subject.. can anyone say what Mar del Plata is like besides the beach/ocean scene?

What's it like to stay longer than a few days? Is the city safe? Interesting to walk or bike around? Anywhere near the options of parks and recreation, restaurants as BA? Or is it all about the beach and ocean views?

from my time there it seemed safe, the nicest paths for running/walking/cycling are from playa bristol (where the Monumento Lobos Marinos and casino are located) right down to the playa grande/the port area (nearly 5km) - and there are plenty of hills which is rare in buenos aires province and differentiates it to the various seasonal summer towns of the costa atlantica. To the north of playa bristol there are wide paths for 4-5km good for walking/running

I misread your original post. Travel for tourism between most provinces is pretty much impossible right now. Especially if you do not have a DNI. There are places like Bariloche that are open to people from Rio Negro province or BA but you need the CuidarApp and that thing doesn't ever work. I have a DNI and I've never gotten it to work for me.

I've traveled across the provinces a couple times for business reasons and I carried a whole grip of papers that I flashed to the checkpoints. Nobody ever looked at them that hard.

Neuquen is fixing to to open to tourism within Neuquen province but once again requires the cuidar app. I'm sure there are hardcopy papers you could carry but who knows how to obtain them...?

People coming from the approved countries are bringing dollars with them and I suspect that's the only reason they get to test out of the quarantine. The gov doesn't want the locals to leave and spend their dollars outside the country so we have to deal with the restrictions for now.
I have not heard anything about being able to travel to Rio Negro from CABA. Where did you hear that from? If true, im out on the road tomorrow...

IF you really wanted to go to the 'beach' this summer and you are limited to Argentina I would take Pinamar/Valeria Del Mar over Mar Del Plata... They are a lot more quiet and secluded/relaxed. If you want lots of people and buildings etc then Mar Del Plata suits.

Soon international tourists from permitted countries will be able to travel outside of Buenos Aires, though I don't know technically if that would be allowed under a US passport. As of December 1st Argentinians will be free to travel where they please within the country with unified protocols in each province. It's my hope tourist restrictions from other nations will be lifted in early December.

i didn't find the city particularly interesting. i think it's all about the beach. and in high tourist season, the beach is jam packed with people (back in the good ol pre pandemic days). i never saw the appeal of that.

Embassy of Canada informed that now you can get permiso de circulación without DNI/precaria.

Departure from Argentina

Circulation permit:

Argentine authorities now require that all persons (with or without a DNI) obtain an official circulation permit for travel in Argentina for the purpose of leaving the country.

www.argentina.gob.ar/circular

Please list your overland itinerary, flight details and all relevant information under OBSERVACIONES

A few hours after submitting the application, applicants will be able to download the permits from the same website.

Embassy circulation permits will not longer be acceptable.

The lawyer who is working on my Work Visa (yes, the Embassy of Argentina has said they will make exceptions for work visas) contacted me today and has told me United States citizens will be able to enter under a tourist visa as of November 29th. I haven't read anything to that effect anywhere but perhaps she has the inside scoop. Just thought I'd share.
