Trump says US will not 'waste our time' helping Argentina if Milei loses

I've just been listening to the item on the BBC World Service that this article by Ione Wells has been derived from.

I'm not quite sure how much World Service radio is actually available in Argentina since the BBC changed access arrangements outside the UK but maybe try one or all of these three ways to listen to it?

https://www.bbc.com/audio/play/w3ct71ck - there should be a button on the page to enable listening direct from the website

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct71ck (This might revert to a bbc.com url.) There should be a Download button on the page to get an mp3.

This is the link contained in that Download button (in case the download button doesn't appear where you are):

I'd appreciate any feedback about which links work for you and which don't.

Incredible if you think about it really. That press conference was a nightmare for Milei. Trump openly admitting to trying to sway an election result. And not really understanding what is going on.

I’m more convinced than ever that Bessent put that money there so Wall Street investors don’t lose out, and can get their cash out now

Bessent's answer made it sound like they want the next Congress passing reformative 'non peronist' legislation. Or the funds drive up.

It's an interesting play; Argentine Congress passes something they don't like, the USA yoinks the money deal, people blame the 'communists' and LLA gains in popularity. (Similar to how team trump is trying to blame democrats for the shutdown)...

Or Congress tries to toe the line and do what's suggested by their creditor, the USA.

LLA is set to gain seats no matter what so any result could be construed to be victory for Milei to Trump. At least that is how I hope it's seen until the next presidential election.

It would be funny to watch how the US can't get its messaging right, repeatedly contradicting itself, if we weren't living through the consequences of that.

But I think you're right, any seat gain in the elections (and there is sure to be some) can hopefully be spun as a victory for Milei for the few seconds the topic will command Trump's attention.

A positive takeaway is that there will be actual adults watching over Argentina's finances, unlike the current lot of crooks and gamblers. Of course, they'll be looking out for their own and the USA's interests, but as long as there's some alignment with Argentina, Milei, Caputo & Co. shouldn't be able to continue as they have done until now. Outright subjugation would be another thing, of course.

All the links work for me. This show is available as BBC The Global Story podcast, added to my subscriptions of automatic daily downloads. There are many podcast apps, on Android I use AntennaPod because it is not some advertisement scammy app

So I know this may seem weird, but has any money actually moved anywhere? Papers signed, deposit slips filled out, whatnot whatnot, actual concrete things?
Or is this still a 'concept of a plan', contingent on what happens in two weeks? (The famous two week time frame)
Before anyone says it's done and done, fait accompli, I'd like to see official affirmation, details, proof, etc.

This recent NYTimes article seems to indicate the negative; hard to imagine they got it completely wrong.

It occurs to me Trump could STILL just be bluffing, to give Milei/LLA a boost in the election; while planning to duck out, and blame whoever.
Where's the bill with his big beautiful Sharpie signature at the bottom?
Where's the picture of Milei holding a giant check, like publisher's clearing house gave out?
Hmmph.
