Milei won by a large amount that nobody expected yet it’s only dipped to 1420. That’s less than I thought. (the news projected last week a dip to 1250-ish if he’d win) we may be back at 1500 next week

Politics aside, the country has massive debt roll-overs in the next 12 months. Milei has yet to accumulate any reserves and there's only so much more gastos publicos left in the bag.

It’ll go back up before long. Already has rebounded today, the dollar crypto that I use has recouped 5% from the 10% loss yesterday.

I think the idea was to use the currency swap agreement with the US to pay those debt rollovers. So USD 20 beelion more to go before the libertarians run out of other people's money once again.

To be fair, a pause from debt rollovers would give the country some breathing space for correcting market distortions, sensible investments, and so on.

Yep...it's now back at 1500, I am regretting transferring myself £500 (US$666 ) yesterday via WU. Witht the fees, it worked out to be a rate of $1534. Will use it to pay my rent quick. Who knows, they make take advantage of the election to do a quick devaluatory correction of the exchange rate.

IMO, there won't be a sudden devaluation per se. The currency will float and if needed they will raise the band techo.
