UK Criminal Record

Hi there,

I am so sorry there is so much confusing info on this I wanted to ask a simple question.

I have lived and worked in London for the last 6 years (originally from Northen Ireland I hold an Irish passport), for my Argentine work visa I need a criminal record and wanted to ask from those who have been sucessful in their applications WHAT BODY PROVIDED THE CRIMINAL RECORD?

I have started the process with Enclosure Scotland who provide a certificate from the Criminal Records Bureau but is this ok or, do I need to get it from the Met Police via http://www.met.police.uk/information/forms/3019.pdf

Hi

What you need is a subject access request. This is the right form:
http://www.met.police.uk/information/forms/3019.pdf

Basically you fill out a data protection request, to ask for all the information the police hold on you on their national computer.

You get back a piece of paper that says "no details held" which basically means you are "not known to the police" and aren't a criminal.

You then need to send this to the FCO and get it apostilled

They'll send it back with a piece of paper stuck to the back, saying that its a valid document.

You'll need have your birth certificate apostilled as welll if you haven't already.

As a fellow NI native the UK route didnt work for me...
my mother, god bless her 78 years náll marched into the local police station (Bangor) and told them that she needed a report to verify my standing on their records and low and behold they produced it for me...and even betetr no need to apostille it! Just get it translated and hey presto!

So I called the Met Police and they told me to get a Disclosure Scotland report which is a 5 year crinimal report for Employment and VISA purposes.

Has anyone been successful with a Disclosure Scotland report which is signed by a Notary and has an Apostile for their work visa application?
