Well here are the News of Russia's invasion of the Ukraine.

Many here will find this Imperialistic invasion as justified! All those that opposed the supposed interference of the USA in Venezuela for ideological reasons perhaps will denounce this Russian military intervention.!

(Reuters) - Ukraine mobilized for war on Sunday and Washington threatened to isolate Russia economically, after President Vladimir Putin declared he had the right to invade his neighbor in Moscow's biggest confrontation with the West since the Cold War.

Putin is very pissed of not gettin' any respect from the EU. 1st the declining of gas from Russia due to was that Bahrain whom built the gas delivering container ships port EU bound at much way cheaper than what was Putin charging the EU.

2nd, the boycott of Putins invitation to the heads of EU but they declined Putins personal invitation to the winter olympics opening ceremony by siding with Obama in deciding not to attend. 3rd, he gor terrified of losing Ukraine to the EU..

3rd, all econo-aid going to Ukraine from Russia being doubled by the EU to that country,So all these events acumulated making Putin very pissed off !

But let me say, Putin has a big cojones or ball, going it alone gainst the EU.US alliance. But soon, PRC will come in to the feud, then so here goes all the hard work prime minister Abe of Japan was implementing to Russia so to get back the Northern Japanese 4 islands that Putin suppoes to return them back to Abe..

But this resolution will have to wait..Now Japan has to take sides...Obama or Putin, dilemmas in the horizon..

Japan should stick to the Article 9 of its constitution and sit this one out.

"You just don't in the 21st century behave in 19th century fashion by invading another country on completely trumped up pre-text," Kerry told the CBS program "Face the Nation."

Could that quote be more hypocrite? In 2003, the whole world minus brainwashed US citizens knew that the US was lying about Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

Also why is this post in the Expat Life forum?

[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]International politics is never simple. Did you know that the Crimea was never part of the Ukraine until 1954, when Khrushchev transferred it from Russia to the Ukraine via a decree? Did you know that a good chunk of the Ukrainians are actually ethnic Russians, who are scared shitless of the ultra-nationalists that took power in Kiev and now have made it illegal for them to use their native Russian as a language?[/background]
[background=rgb(245, 245, 245)]I am not defending Putin or his actions, but the situation is never as clear cut and black and white and the media try to portrait. The fact that the Ukrainian Navy and a good chuck of their army are defecting should be a clear sign of that. What is happening there is beyond our comprehension. There are so many variables at play that we are completely unaware of and yet people are clamoring for the US to "do something" and interfere on a situation that we barely understand or can relate to. International politics is never simple.

While I couldn't agree more with that (and acknowledge many of the other facts you've presented) there is another, more pressing realpolitik at play here. Namely that the Ukraine is such a basket case economically that Russia simply cannot afford to bail them out on their own. Any move by Putin to consolidate control over that country is only going to prolong the suffering of all involved. While the EU may have its hands full with its own economic laggards, provided the political will is present, the west is in a much better position than Russia to help. And most of the non-ethnically Russian Ukrainians know that.

You nailed it, Camberiu. A very complex situation.
