In the true spirit of the great free trade area of Mercosur, Argentina complained that Uruguayans were emptying their border towns of all those great frozen priced subsidized goods. Our fraternally minded border town merchants agreed that Uruguay should show solidarity with Argentina by making cross border shopping illegal in order to prevent our selfless shopkeepers from having to lower their prices and thus further damage the Uruguayan economy already suffering from a lack of Argentine hard currency tourists. After all, is not Mercosur all about making the free movement of goods, people and capital between our brotherly countries all but impossible the ultimate goal.

What is funny living over here is listening to these folks talk about Argentina and Argentines when there are no Argentines around. They really think Argentina and Argentines are complete idiots and rightfully so. They have some really good jokes too and laugh at Argentinas monkey cycle of inflation and crisis which rolls around about every ten years. If you ask me calling that monkey a hag is a compliment.. they have much better terms for her and her husband around here.
