US College vs. UBA

Frankly, I have not heard of UBA till I came to Argentina. For that matter, I have not heard of any Latin American Universities... I'm quite ignorant.

Not sure if the following ranking would help, I am sure there are plenty of good and value for money schools in the US or Canada or UK you can choose from. Even might be easier for you to get employment from these countries having studied there and have the time to look for work... In this day and age, always good to have international experience. If you are a US citizen, may be good to have post grad experience in Asia... and so on....

First, I recommend you look at:

I met Maya and filmed a video for her when she was down here, very interesting stuff.

If it means anything, I would hire an UBA grad over a Ivy league grad any day--mainly because in a work environment the frustration they dealt with at UBA makes them great problem solvers and very motivated.
But I think the decision (if not based on cost) needs to be made by your child. However, if he wants to go into a "artsy" profession, not spending a lot of money on university so you can then support him or her for a few years (or give him seed money for a project or business) is something to consider. 40 years ago you could get a good job out of university. Now, in the US or Argentina or Europe, you need to factor in 3 to 10 years of financial support during internships, company start ups, travel, futher training, etc
Knowing what I know now, I would have gone to a cheaper school (maybe Cuny honors?) and then used my tuition money to grow my business.

I agree completely. I'd never force the issue. Ultimately, the decision won't be mine. But that won't stop me from trying to persuade!

But it looks like the decision has been made. Deadlines are about to go by for 2013 admissions. So I'm going to shift my focus to 2014 - support a year off, perhaps arrange some tours of schools in the US so that the idea of studying there doesn't seem so alien and abstract.
