Hola pibes como están???

I am currently living in Miami and I am thinking about studying aboard in Buenos Aires in the Victoria neighborhood.

Does anyone know anything about the area; if they are things to do, if it is safe, etc.?

Thank you very much for the help
Sincerely,

Miami student

I have a friend that lives there and I have visited her a couple of times. The area is a nice breath of fresh air from the hustle of the city. Plenty of cafes, a few bars, farmacias, bakeries and a really, really good steak house.
A lot quieter than the city, so don't expect the party atmosphere that you would get in BA, but it really is quite nice up there.
Safety seems to be ok... I have never had any trouble up there.
Hope this helps.

the only victoria i know of is in entre rios, not in buenos aires.

Where is Victoria? Certainly not a neighborhood in Cap Fed that I've heard of - what am I missing?

Second to last train stop before Tigre, partido de Tigre

It's okay, but you are going to suffer in finding a furnitured rental, or even a rental for 6 months/a year

General safety is ok, but some area's are shady. There is also a very big slum near in the area. But in general terms there is a lot of police pressence almost everywhere.

Do try to rent something within 2,3 blocks from the station and/or Libertador

Second stop after San Isidro on the Mitre line (not that I'd noticed it before you asked, mind.)

Yeah towards tigre. Its a nice area, quiet and if you live near the the train, only 45 min from downtown

It is very quiet and residential about 40 mins by train from downtown Buenos Aires. I lived there for a month when I first arrived in BA (I was doing an exchange program at the university of San Andres) and have to admit, i was bored out of my tiny mind. In the end, I ended up moving to Belgrano after just 1 month and was much happier.
It is true that there are a few bars and cafes around but not many and it's not the best place for someone in their 20's or single as you'll end up travelling into Capital for entertainment or to socialise anyway. There's a bit more "movimiento" in nearby San Isidro or Vicente Lopez (about 15/20 mins away) but unless you are specifically looking for utter peace and tranquility, I'd live in the northern part of Capital (Belgrano, etc) and just commute. A lot of the students at SA were from Belgrano, Palermo or Recoleta so once I made friends, I was often able to share a ride back.
Also, if you are going to San Andres, I'd check where your course will be held before making any accomodation plans. I think a lot of post-grad courses are held downtime now.
