Visa Help!!

I have been doing research regarding filing an I 130 and have run into a lot of conflicting information on the internet regarding wait times, whether or not to file for the K3 or IR1 visas, whether or not I need to be filing from a residence in the US and need to be working while filing... It goes on and on.
Does anyone have experience to share regarding this process? I am debating whether or not to contact an immigration attorney as I was told that it could slow down the process (papers sitting on the desk and not being filed or mistakes made causing a delay in the process) and I was a paralegal for 10 years so I can deal with some serious form filing. We ideally wanted to move to the US by the end of next year... Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!!

The process of filing, etc. for an Argentine spouse to immigrate with his American wife to the USA is more complicated than residency and citizenship in Argentina combined.

The medical examination requirements are something else:

The vaccinations that may be required for an immigrant visa are:
MUMPS, MEASLES, RUBELLA, POLIO, TETANUS AND DIPHTHERIA TOXOIDS, PERTUSSIS, HAEMOPHILUS INFLUENZAE TYPE B (HIB), HEPATITIS B, VARICELLA, PNEUMOCOCCAL, INFLUENZA, ROTAVIRUS, HEPATITIS A and MENINGOCOCCAL.
2- Take the orders for the x-ray, blood test, and PPD to whichever of the below laboratories your chosen physician identifies. Once complete, the physician will pick up the test results. You are responsible for paying for these exams.


It appears you can file from outside the USA to the Chicago Lock-Box.

Thanks! I have been checking the website since last week. We cannot (should not) file for the K1 (would be a K3 for us) as it causes us to have to do an extra step upon arrival in the US. How has the process been going for you? How long did you have to wait?

Everything went pretty much as we expected! We waited about 9 months from the time we filed until my fiance could come to the US (6 months from filing to approval and then it took a few more months to get everything in order for the embassy interview). I think the wait times for the K3 are a little different. It was A LOT of paperwork but we followed all the steps on visajourney.com and it all worked out!
