Hola,

I'm trying to plan a trip to Brazil, the last couple weeks of September. I don't have any travel plans yet (still need to purchase my flight!). Any advice on places to visit, not to visit? Places to stay? I have my tourist visa.

Gracias! Besos!

Do you want beaches or city? Big or small budget?

Everyone needs to see Rio once. A three hour drive from there will take you to a great beach resort, Buzios.

Salvador is a place worth seeing, it's an African influenced colonial city. Interesting culturally and great food including street food. A beach resort nearby is Pria do Forte which has mostly upscale resorts. Lots of lower priced beach destinations closer to Salvador.

The Recife area also has great beach resorts. And there's Floripa which some like (I don't) pretty close to BA if you want beaches too.

Will you be traveling alone, with friends or as a couple?

If you are looking for a low-key beach resort area, I highly recommend Porto de Galinhas, about an hour outside of Recife. LOVE that place! Maragogi is gorgeous as well.

Beaches would be great. Medium budget.
I tend to like smaller, more quiet beaches, I'm not big on resort beaches lined with lots of hotels.

I also enjoy old cities, so Salvador sounds great.

Thanks for your recommendations!

I just checked the airfares for GOL (the budget??) airline. The ONE WAY fare from BA to Recife on 15 Sept is only R$932.76 or if my math is correcto US$587.00; round trip is probably double. When I was in Brazil, a few years ago, a not too special pair of Nikes was US$350.00.
Have a great trip !!

As it stands now, I'll be traveling sola. I'm assuming it's safe to travel there alone as a woman. I mean, if I can live sola in BA, I should be able to travel in Brazil, right?

Thanks for the recommendations!

My husband is in Brasil on business at least once a month now -- he said that these days much of Rio is much more expensive than the States -- and those Nikes are now around 400 bucks -- and that's why any Brasilero with a bit of cash comes here or goes to Miami for the weekend to shop!

Hi,

As a Brazilian citizen I recommend you to go to Bahia (state), spend one or two days in Salvador (capital), than to to the south beaches - Itacaré, Espelho, Trancoso, Ponta do Coumbau< Santo André, Barra Grande). They are the best in Brazil and the people there are really "muy buena onda".

If you need any additional information, let me know.

saluditos
