International Cooperation Volunteer
Are you interested in gaining some work experience whilst in Argentina? We offer you the opportunity to:

  • Be a volunteer for the best think tank in Argentina and one of the top five in Latin America.

  • Gain hands-on experience in international fundraising from a Latin American perspective.
  • Exposure to relevant events happening in the country.
  • Access to experts on public policy that Cippec specializes on.

We are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to join the fundraising team. He or she must be a native English speaker or equivalent, have an advanced level of Spanish and ideally have an interest in the work Cippec does. Responsibilities include:

  • Check various NGO funding databases for open applications for grants that could help support CIPPECs ongoing or upcoming projects.
  • Summarize funding applications to be presented at CIPPECs senior staff weekly meeting.
  • Contact and interact with international donors to follow-up on funding applications.
  • Translate documents into Spanish and in some cases into English.
  • Maintain an internal database of international funding applications and proposals.
  • Serve as support for other parts of the fundraising team when need be.
About the organization
Center for the Implementation of Public Policies Promoting Equity and Growth (CIPPEC) is a private, non-profit organization that strives to create a more just, democratic, and efficient state in Argentina to improve the quality of life for all Argentine citizens.
CIPPEC was formed in September 2000 when eleven young professionals, from various fields and with differing political views, saw the need for Argentina to be a more just and developed country. Our work today, almost 30 years since Argentina’s return to democracy, remains more valuable than ever, as we are in the midst of the serious social and economic crisis in our country’s history. CIPPEC is focused on helping to solve some of the country's greatest challenges such as the deterioration of education and public health; scarce access to justice; weak political institutions; corruption; and fiscal insolvency.
At CIPPEC, we believe that only an active civil society and a more just, responsible, effective, and transparent state will create an Argentina that not only can be integrated into the world but also addresses the needs of its citizens, enabling all Argentines to develop to their full potential. Your commitment

We are looking for a volunteer that is willing to work with us 20 hours per week for a minimum period of 4 months. If you are interested in becoming part of our team please send a cover letter and your CV to Diego Deleersnyder ([email protected]).

Hey Brenda,

I'm all for social justice enterprises (When they work) and wish you well on your endeavours.

I'd like to point out that asking someone to commit a minimum of 4 months whilst providing no website for them to background check your organisation will only provide you with inappropriate volunteers who will likely do more damage than good with the vulnerable communities you are hoping to assist.

The e-cippec.net site listed at the end of that email leads to this Google Sites page which cannot be accessed by the general public.

Sending potential volunteers to the CIPPEC site proper should increase the yield of people with the correct skillset who can fulfil this sensitive role.

Best of luck!

Agreed totally with what Scottlyon said. I live in Buenos Aires and I am tired of seeing persons trying to take advantage of others by exploiting them into free work. It will definitely be a plus if we can check your website, Brenda. All the best! :)

Jade, you're a little too late at the criticism attempt. They've already corrected the link.

Never the less, they have already made their first impression.

Volunteer for fund raising??? I am assuming that is telephone call cold calling and secratarial chores without pay.

The only reason I would show up their is as a spy to get in there and bust up the scam. "No, you fetch my coffee you parasite"

Sounds like a pack of users up to no good.

Think about this in your tank: Stay home and get a real job!

To me, its basically an admin role without pay, in a non for profit org. I am fairly certain these kind of roles are usually paid. I would be interested to know how many others within the office are working for free. 4 months is a long time.

320hr of work for no remuneration....? I'd expect to see this type of behaviour in the USA but haven't heard of it widely here.

Even some sort of deal like transport costs and money for lunch each day like $50 would make it bearable.

Sadly I've met some young people from the US who have paid organisation based in Argentina over USD4000 for them to find them a job for 2/3 months in the FS industry here which doesn't pay 'so they can get real experience'. Jesus wept.

A lot of people could get a grant/stipend from their home country to supplement income for this position and/or it could be beneficial to those working on a thesis/research paper.
