Volunteering

My English classes are ending mid December and I will have about a month before I leave. Does anyone have any suggestions or know any organisations that are looking for volunteers? I have been in touch with several agencies but they charge a fee which while I understand why they do it, I dont really want to pay.
Any suggestions or contact info would be welcome.

December 2nd is Volunteer day and there is some sort of related event at UCA on the 1st and 2nd

Sol Naciente is a bakery and a home for sick or violence victims mothers. Its located in south flores, you might have seen it on tv these days because some people are trying to sell their building. They always need hands willing to help.
And you can avoid intermediaries, going directly with the needed people.
The question is how would you get there? I remember being not so safe, but always found someone who gave me a ride.

Union de los Pibes in Barracas is a great organisation for local kids that's always looking for people. Runs twice a week, costs nothing and it's a great experience. I was there for 4 months last year and loved it.
