Hello. A consulate in USA recently via email confirmed they received 2 months ago all the necessary papers for that process but they refuse to comment on what the wait time is for processing that and suggested I have patience. Might anybody know what I can expect for how long it will take till I'm offered an appointment to go for the photograph, fingerprinting and signing of documents at the consulate? Thanks.

I did it for a DNI (we moved to the USA way before there were DNIs) in order to get an Argentine passport. Start to finish, the DNI application took about 6 months, the passport was a couple months later, so 8 months total. I realize your situation is somewhat different but it should be similar in the amount of time it takes.

If they make it difficult you can do it at Renaper in Argentina or federal Courts.

Hello. I appreciate the response. Thanks. How long ago was that.

I think mine took about 6 months for DNI and then I had to go back 2 months later for the passport. It was in 2023 in Houston.... my passport appointment was right when Argentina was playing the Netherlands in the World Cup and I was pretty impressed they didn't cancel my cita. Staffers took over the conference room I was in that had a TV in it.

BTW the consulate told me I couldn't get the DNI for my children there and had to go through the courts. Turns out they are wrong about this -- the consulate CAN do it. I ended up filing court cases for my kids but my mom said let's just go to Renaper in Buenos Aires while we were visiting. One hour later my kids were ciudadanos. Imagine that.
