Wedding Bells Possible?

I have been asked a question by some friends who are coming to Argentina from abroad(non Spanish-speaking country).
Can they get married here in Argentina as tourists? While they are not religious or deep believers(the husband is minimum agnostic, if not atheist!) They are not Christian.
Does anyone know how this works for a civil ceremony here? If possible, how far in advance must it be requested? Can I act as interpreter?
I HAVE NO IDEA, thus, count on the community's wisdom.

I would think that it would only be a symbolic ceremony here and that they'd have to marry again where the are legal residents to make it legit. But that is just my guess.

I know that Catholic church will require both of them to be Baptized and they should have taken their first Communion. Most Christian churches will require a Baptism. The wait times vary from one church to another.

As for the civil marriage, usually the wait time is about a month from the time you get your date. They will need witnesses and if they cannot speak Spanish some judges will ask for a translator / interpreter, They will need to get the medical checkup at a public hospital as well. At least one of them must have some kind of residency ( precaria, permanente ) and DNI.

Their marriage is valid in most countries, even if they are not residents. They will need Argentine witnesses with a DNI though.

Foreigners in transit can get married in BA subject to the same requisites as locals, obtaining a turno and taking the prenuptial exam


Asimismo, la pareja deberá realizarse el examen pre nupcial, para lo cual deberán obtener un turno en el CEMAR (Secretaría de Salud municipal) con 72 hs. de anticipación a la celebración de la boda.

Yeah but the civil wedding here is a rather ho-hum reading of your identity numbers, profession, address, same for your fiance, then the reading of the civil code that pertains to the legalities of the marriage. It is really not romantic at all, it may not exactly be what they have in mind! And on top of that a lot of the registry offices are pretty blech. The one on Uruguay (the central one) is the nicest one I've been to.

Yes Vegas would be more fun but I doubt this will happen, They are from Iran! But it looks like since they are both tourists with tourist visas, no possibility if I am understanding it correctly?
