What makes it Christmas for you?

Having kids makes Christmas magic again. Decorating the tree and the house is just wonderful, watching their joy and excitement at the preparations, then hiding from Santa and seeing the pile of pressies waiting for them. I can't wait for this year, my 5 yr old has learned to read and write her name since last year, she's going to be able to find her own presents under the tree and my oldest is at that stage of testing if santa is real, wants to leave milk and cookies out to see if they get consumed.
Christmas for my husband and I is running around non stop to get all work and children commitments finished in time for the big event, then sitting back to just enjoy. The kids laugh at our very sensible gifts to each other ,saying we must have really misbehaved this year that Santa only brought us a pair of jeans!

to me christmas used to be the decoration, especially the lights (to get me the dark days out), the shopping for presents. Now i don't feel like lights nor decoration as it doesn't really fit into this climate... the presents are limited, the family is just my husband and kids. The only difference is probably the food which we try to make special. I do feel like putting christmas decoration out in july...
