What Was Cristina Up To In The Seychelles Islands?

Seriously ARbound - is it so hard to think that Cristina would be depositing money there? I am hardly a conspiracy theorist (and if you are talking about the other thread of opening deposit boxes, most people said that it was just a rumor and no basis in fact). But this trip to the Seychelles, it's quite credible and not at all a stretch to think she was doing exactly what Lanata accused her of doing. The alternative being she flew halfway around the world for 2 days (or 13 hours) for other reasons which would be...nope, not coming up with any.

Unless of course you believe that the vast increase in the Kirchner patrimony ( ignoring the fact that an independent investigation stated that there was NO legal way that it could have increased that much) is just a lucky thing, that all her money is in ARS pesos in the bank and that she has legally earned and declared every penny.

I think it is. I really don't see Christina going to the Seychelles to deposit money when the whole world/Arge can see her doing it. Give her some credit, she'd have some one do it for her and likely a better country than the Seychelles to boot (not to mention the distance).

As I've stated before, I'm not a CFK fan, I just think people like Lanata love to hear themselves speak/talk out their ass so they'll do anything for viewers/ratings. It's not like Lanata doesn't like her/would have anything to gain from slandering Christina would he?

Oh wait, I think I already answered my own question...

Oh God, Día del Libertador José de San Martín should really be named "BA Expat Conspiracy Day". Some poor sap had to actually respond to this bullshit on a holiday on the official Casa Rosada FB Account...

If it's a conspiracy, it doesn't lie at the door of the ordinary man in the street Ar-bound.
Furthermore, that 'poor sap' to which you refer is Oscar Parrilli, Presidential General Secretary whose job it is to communicate officially.
That's what he gets paid to do, holiday or not.
It's also pretty clear that they saw this coming long ago and you can bet that this tirade was prepared well in advance.
Or should I say, when they realised that Lanata et al would be knocking on their door.
Finally, if you think it's bullshit, why not back up your statement?

ARbound, you say you don't have any simpathies for Cristina but I get the feeling that you'd feel a lot more at ease if Lanata wasn't doing these investigations and that poor Cristina should just be left alone do do what she does best, no? If only we'd let sleeping dogs lie. Bloody Lanata! How dare he?

Come on señor, she may not have walked off the plane carrying suit cases full of ca$h or anything ridiculously obvious but how about if she was there to sign some papers and tidy up some 'personal business'? Could that be a possibility? The government DID TAKE THE SEYCHELLES ISLANDS OFF THE LIST but has since reversed it... "Conspiracies"? What?

Maybe not the Seychelles, but if she's smart (and she is) she's hoarding money away for the inevitable backlash against her when she finally loses the ability to control by decree. There is a tremendous amount of pent-up anger at her and one day that is going to snap. After "The Fall"
I predict she will have no ability to live in Argentina, unless sequestered in one of her hotels in Patagonia, and that's not like her. Much more like her to buy an island someplace so she can jet-set around like a former emperor should.

Putting it in another way, in a country dominated by years of wholesale corruption where public figures like Lilita Carrio has unsuccessfully spent years trying to blow the whistle on the powerful criminal class of politicians....this is as good as it gets...yes the chain smoking fat guy is all we have for now..the rest don't have the fund$ nor the spine to question the 'Establishment' ..we have NO credible OPPOSITION in government.

Lanata is what we have, a center left wing journalist who uses swear words, yes, as much as some like to nitpick he's still the only one with all the goods..not that he's had it easy either...he's been sacked a few times from other TV & radio networks cause he dared to ask the uncomfortable questions...so here we are, August 2013 under Cristina & it just so happens that the a capricious diva, drunk on her own power has accumulated some powerful enemies. What ever Clarin's motives , this is a once in a lifetime chance for LAnata to have a powerful backer, so SHOULDN'T he use it? Or should we all just sit by & let Carrio & all her investigations die away into insignificance?
Carrio didn't have the media power behind her, she didn't have the video production team & the powerful media network to air out the evidnece...so along comes Lanata on the Clarin horse, like or loathe him, it's all we have. What CArrio couldn't yet do in ten years Lanata is able to in 12 months...let him carry the torch. Perhaps, perhaps it could lead to a change....very optimistic of me to even consider it I now.

Sure, he's rough & far from being 'BBC' standard, but some day we may be able to afford someone better, for now, I'll place my bets & back him all the way. I speak Spanish from birth so I get to read between the lines, all the subtleties & nuances. At first I couldn't stomach him much, but now I'm getting to like the guy. He's not too bad after all. He's ok.

OOohps! about an hour ago, from the official Pink house Twitter account, a tweet was put out calling Lanata a "Fatso the conman" (Gordo). Within 20 minutes it was deleted.... Ha ha ha ha! Looks like someone in there is feeling a little 'impulsive'....ha ha ha !

"El living de canal 13 , defendiendo al gordo chanta que les vende un buzon son de terror"

GS_Dirtboy is making my point (I think), I just don't see Christina herself jetting off (to the Seychelles of all places...) to deposit USDs herself. I'm not saying it's impossible, and yes, hers/Nestor's massive wealth accumulation does seem suspicious in the same way Dick Cheney's interests magically lined up with government contract approvals when he was in office, the only point I'm doubting here is this:

- If She was to move USD to a 3rd country, it's not going to be the Seychelles. Geography, stability, etc.
- If She was to move USD to a 3rd country, she's not going to do it herself
- If She was to move USD to a 3rd country, it's not going to be during her Presidency

Give the woman some credit. If she's smart enough to get elected (twice) she's smart enough to move her money with out getting caught by Lanata (he's not Bob Woodward for crying out loud), and my field of study isn't money laundering, but just use common sense, even Breaking Bad had better ideas than just moving money on a government plane to a set of islands in the Indian Ocean. Again I'm not saying she isn't doing this, I'm simply arguing that there are major flaws with his theories/"research".

Finally Lanata is about doing sensationalism. He's not a real journalist/reporter/whatever his ego thinks he is. He's about infotainment, gossip and in this instance concoction. (Hell, even other news outlets just roll their eyes at him) We're talking about a man who is the Sunday night equivalent of Bill O'Reilly, minus the Harvard Degree. This is why Parrilli shouldn't have to respond to him.
