What's the best cambio area in Montevideo?

So we're doing a short vacay trip to Montevideo and Punta del Este. The ferry will land in Puerta de Montevideo. Does anyone have a recommendation on where to exchange either USD or ARS into Uruguayan pesos? I'm assuming using a cambio in Montevideo is the best deal? If so, where exactly? Thanks.

Cambio gales in Montevideo P.d..este..., used them for transfers,accounts,safety deposit boxes and exchange. Ars to Uyu is bad, try to use Usd--> Uyu

The best deal is to pay with US dollars in stores. Ask for "a la media" rate: midpoint between buying and selling rates.

Do you mean to buy something (like a candy bar) in US dollar, and then ask for change back in URU pesos "a la media"? Or do you mean to just go to any store and ask them to change for you without buying anything?

I meant pay in dollars when you make a purchase, and ask for your change in pesos. Most merchants are happy to get "cheap" dollars.

Alternatively, use an American credit card.
