What's the best neighborhood for families?

Any advice for a family with a baby moving to Buenos Aires? What neighborhoods are good for families? Any advice is welcome. Anyone with a family have a advice?

When the economy was better and foreign executives were transferred here with their families, they usually settled in Zona Norte - places like Lomas de San Isidro, La Lucila etc. They could have large houses with gardens and were close to schools like Lincoln.

Thanks Sergio! What do you think about Belgrano, Nunez or Palermo? Our daughter is 2 years old. Just hoping to find an area where there are families. A house big house with a garden is probably more than we can afford.

There are lots of small houses with small gardens in the Northern suburbs. Belgrano and Nuñez are ok too, but much more citified. Mostly apartments there, houses are wildly expensive.

Hi, families everywhere in those neighbourhoods...apts. are the norm, with p.h 's ( like townhomes ..single family dwellings..) too...! Belgrano ,Núñez fine and parts of Palermo...

There’s not too much green space in Buenos Aires so look for areas near the big parks.
If you’re living in an apartment it’s nice to enjoy the outside.

I don't have kids, but when we stayed in Villa Urquiza near Plaza Zapiola there were always with families with kids out in the park. It's a nice area, it's quiet, but you can find places near the Subte B line so you can still get downtown when you want. IMO, it's an underrated part of BA to live in.

In GBA it's the suburbs up north and in the south it's gated communities. In CABA itself parts of Palermo, Belgrano, Nuñez, Colegiales, and Villa Urquiza from what I've seen.

Belgrano, Coghlan, and Villa Urquiza are all very nice suburban areas, not too hectic, but still with most of the amenities you need, and reasonable public transport as well. There are parks scattered around, I lived for 2 years on the corner of Parque Zapiola like @julia_en_ruta, the only negative aspect was being allergic to the plane tree pollen in October (but that's a problem in a lot of Buenos Aires). Areas like Palermo and Recoleta are much more built up, unless you go down to the Avenida Libertador corridor, where you will indeed find big parks.

In Zona Norte (say up to an hour by car north of CABA) you can find houses to rent, generally on 300-1000sqm of ground, with fewer public amenities, and less efficient public transport (though private companies offer "combis" to get to and from CABA). Look around Pilar, Los Cardales, Escobar and Campana for places in the "barrios privados" there. If you can wfh for at least some of the time it might be an attractive option.

i liked living in caballito near parque centenario. Big park, reasonably well kept. Fairly middle class. Houses weren't awful there.

The problem being that when you live in the expat/oligarch areas you end up getting more casual crime from the villas coming in. If you have a place outside that zone... the guys from the villas don't think "lets go rob houses in caballito"
