What's the job market like?

Well yes, but of course even more so if I can find a job in a city with a strong cultural scene like BA. The UAE is an interesting suggestion too, but I think a move to an Arab country might be too much of a culture shock.

Hm, well I have personally never been to Chile so I couldn't tell you what it was like culturally. It is one of the two countries in Latin America doing well economically at the moment.

When it comes to culture, that's one of Buenos Aires's strong selling points...it may be the only one left right now ;). So yeah, if its about "a strong cultural scene", move to Buenos Aires.

I don't think you'll regret not moving here. You could always visit. Trust me when I say this, you'll enjoy the local culture way more if you're here on a visit rather than here working your butt off and worried about the things us residents have to worry about.

If you can secure a job with a multinational company that will pay you in US dollars in an account outside of Argentina, I'd say come on over here. If your salary is decent, you'll live like a queen (even with 30% inflation). All you'll need to do is go to Colonia and withdraw dollars, bring them back here and convert them on the black market (the rate shot up to 6.78 today as opposed to the official 4.58).

As for the UAE, if you live in Dubai, its not really that "ARAB" but I get what you mean.

Thanks again for the advice. I think the best thing is to see how the ecomomy pans out over the next few months. If I did dedcide to leave for BA, the most prudent obviously would be secure a job beforehand and better one paid in hard cash.

Jamila- yes I am going to keep an eye on linkedin and for networking opportunities.
