I'm awestruck by the utter stupidity and denial of the liberals in the U.S. or any country for that matter. When will they learn that the government spending money, more entitlements, and higher taxes will NEVER result in better ANYTHING...EVER...EVER...EVER. In fact, it has failed 100% of the time.

Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and now, the UK are all in economic collapse and basically bankrupt. Kudos to Germany and the UK and of course France for waking up and making some hard but necessary cuts.

I'm surprised nobody here (Darmanad and cronies), has been defending the unions, communists and socialist in France for crying about the government raising the retirement age by 2...OH MY GOD...2 giant, long years...boo hoo hoo.

They French Gov must be in the pockets of evil corporations and crazy, right-wing anti-entitlement "trolls".

High taxes and Gov, ineffective 100% of the time.

Free market is the solution to everything! Government is bad!

Adam Smith said that more than 200 years ago...and nothing happened, nothing changed since the late 18th century that shows the opposite thing. :)

Why don't you boys check out how DENMARK is doing. Always rated in the top 5 of World countries and has a very large, healthy middle class, very low crime rate, great universal health care system, and Super High Taxes for the super wealthy. Seems to work fine in practice (not just in theory like the US. In practice the USA is a fricken MESS). Just keeping it real with all the right wing truth twisting propaganda going on around here. Show me "Real World" examples, don't just talk theory or make up things to fit into your personal. unproven POV. Thanks kids, Dudester

Funny, I checked all the "top" lists from Forbes, NY Times, Living and didn't see Denmark in any of the top 10, let alone the top 5. Please provide proof.

Also, just did some research on Denmark and this great system you mentioned. Seems like a "great" place to live...if you are a lazy, welfare dependent flake. True, poverty is low as is unemployment. But let's look at some other statistics:

-Annual economic growth (average); -1.1% oooh, nice.

-4th LOWEST PRODUCTIVITY GROWTH RATE IN THE WORLD

-As of this year, Denmark no longer meets the economic convergence criteria for participating in the EMU due to its public deficit rising above the allowed 3% of GDP.

-At present the portion of working-age Danes (16 to 66-year-olds) living mostly on government transfer payments amounts to 22.6%. The heavy load of government transfer payments burdens other parts of the system. Health care, other than for acute problems, and care for the elderly and children have suffered, while taxes remain among the highest in the world.

-People dependent on the Gov in some way: almost 100% WOW, and I thought lazy welfare state was just a Right Wing myth. I guess that explains why in the last 100 years about zero anything has come from Denmark (innovation, etc).

-Massive immigration problems...why? cause everything is free...who wouldn't want to live there.

So, another example of the complete failure of your precious socialism, the FACTS say yes.

Put up a real fight by providing some credible counterarguments. Seems like you did a quick google search and typed in whatever you found.

"Growth" in and of itself means nothing if all of the extra cake is going to the top few percentiles. I presume slave-owning societies also had "healthy growth" -- it just didn't filter down to the slaves. US wages have been stagnating for the last three decades as the "growth" has gone mostly to the top 10%, and the top 1% and top 0.1% have done even better. It's like taking a town of 50,000 paupers, putting Bill Gates in their midst, and saying: "See, capitalism works as the average net worth is over a million."

Productivity growth can be subjected to the same response: growth for whose benefit?

Tell me how many EU countries are meeting the target of <3% deficit? Even Germany may miss it this year. As for *real* deficits, look at countries like the US and UK.

With regard to immigration, look at the USA. Of course, without batting an eye, you'll immediately change your tack and say that immigrants flock to the US because of the "opportunity," not realising the double standards you're using.

I meet many West Europeans who are curious about the US but seldom do I meet any who want to migrate to the US, to trade their social welfare states for the winner-take-all (or rather the "rich-gobble-everything") society of the US.

C'mon, put up a real fight. Advance some arguments worthy of being demolished. Stop rehashing these brainless Tea-Party shibboleths.

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah! Facts are Facts. I also read the sky is blue in Denmark, but I bet you could counter that with some liberal global warming crap.

And if none of the EU countries aren't hitting the 3%, that just proves AGAIN that Socialism is a massive failure (original point). Germany, France and the UK are all waking up and realizing it...maybe it's about time you stop blaming the evil rich (another BORING argument) and wake up as well.

I'm tired or Arguing with Idiots (OMG, Glenn Beck reference), I'm going to get back to making money and stomping on the poor and down trodden.

Ok, what opportunities does Denmark present to immigrants???? FREE stuff and Gov entitlements...that's it. It's not a double standard, it's a totally different situation. But for you liberal brainiacs, apples and oranges are the same, right? Like Pelosi's math, 1 = 1.79.

OF COURSE there are more opportunities for immigrants in the U.S. then Mexico or other Northern/Central American countries...why...CAPITALISM!!! That's what the country was built on!!

They have an opportunity to make something (money, life, happiness) that they don't have in the left leaning and sometime blatantly socialist countries. How many new companies are forming in Venezuela (that aren't owned by the Gov), Bolivia, Colombia? At least Mexico has some sort of free market but their immigration laws make the U.S's look like a free pass.

The LEGAL immigrants have as much opportunity as any U.S. citizen to make a good living, create a company or whatever they might want to do.

Now the ILLEGAL immigrants who come across come for the same reason but basically trying to make a better life for themselves. They get free healthcare, education and other social services...all on my, and anyone that pays taxes, dime. Again, ALL made possible by evil capitalism.

So why some come across for the same reason as those in Denmark (freebies), I would venture a guess that the majority of immigrants that come to the U.S. do so for opportunities. You couldn't say the same for Denmark because there are none.

Taking a break from my stomping of the poor and hiding my dollars off-shore to make a comment.

If you were to take a Bill Gates and drop him in the middle of 50,000 paupers he would create 50,000 new jobs and make all of them rich (just like has has already done). CAPITALISM

Take a Obama or another Pauper and put them in the midst of the 50,000 and you will have 50,001 paupers. SOCIALISM

Ok, back to the destruction of society.

Has Cocaine been legalized in Argentina and I somehow missed the news? Jaredwb, you need to settle down big time my man, you're gonna burst a blood vessel in the old CABEZA - your B/P must be sky high. Watch the coffee too, no more than a liter a day.....

As usual, the very well read and wise BIG BAD WOLF comes on to straighten things out. No offense jaredwb but the man has more accurate information when he's talking in his sleep than you do when you're wide awake (and totally pumped up on whatever). It's all cool, some people are just much smarter than others. BTW, ever been to Denmark or Sweden (I mean weeks or months, not just at the airport)? I've been there many times and have friends their as well as friends and family next door in Sweden - Malmo (20 minute Bridge/Tunnel train ride/car drive on the road (above and below water) Known as "The Link" (it's about as advanced technology wise as "The Chunnel" - Paris/London. - Now that will be the day "hard working" America will pull off something like that. We don't build bridges anymore, we just watch them collapse these days.

Oh, and Sweden is known for 2 world famous products/business' - IKEA and VOLVO (a fine automobile). They're socialist leaning but yet they sure seem to get things done (only have 3 major cities, not like America with 100 major ones or something). The roads are in MUCH BETTER shape than the ones in the USA (no million potholes, etc). It's very clean and very kept up, hardly lazy people IMHO. But see, I have to deeply experience a place - find out all about the good and the bad WHEN I'M THERE. Looking at numbers on google or yahoo is just time wasting, abstract hocus pocus jive. You have to get out and see the world my man. Numbers on a computer screen don't mean nada - it's the test drive that counts.

BTW, since you admire the American system SO MUCH isn't it ironic that the US Government has to borrow 2 billion $$ a day from a system it was ready to nuke (USSR) years ago? If it wasn't for money from China (political system very close to the USSR - Communism, way beyond your Bete Noire "Socialism") So, we are using the communist system to keep us above water, how Ironic. See, gotta go for "Deeper Thinking" and not just slide across the surface of things (be superficial IOW). Check out these YouTubes (look, listen, learn) -

Again with the personal attacks, is that all you got...??

Nope, I haven't been to Denmark or Sweden. I've lived and worked (more than 2 years) in Paris, NYC, Buenos Aires, and Singapore (while traveling extensively to China and SEA) so I would guess I have "seen" more than you.

AND WHEN WERE WE TALKING ABOUT SWEDEN??? BUT SINCE YOU BROUGHT IT UP....

Sweden is a Capitalist country! (according to the U.S. State Dept), "Sweden has used a combination of high-tech capitalism and a comprehensive system of welfare benefits to achieve one of the highest standards of living in the world. Today, privately owned companies account for nearly 90% of industrial output."

When the country started experiencing economic problems (because of the spending), they...oh my God...PUT A CAP ON GOVT SPENDING! They also SOLD to PRIVATE companies, major public assets. They also sold 94% of their pharmacy stores and ELIMINATED the govt monopoly on pharmacies.

The RELAXATION of Govt controlled policies have increased private investment and growth.

SO, ONCE AGAIN, LET'S SAY IT TOGETHER....

LESS GOVERNMENT IS GOOD, MORE IS BAD!

Come on, throw me another country...this is fun.
