The Obama Administration is surely historic - for it is the most blatant boobytrap the American public has goten into - yet.
1) Race Issue: Where to even begin? If one is not a racist, then it doesn't add points. Declaring race does matter only assures what we already know: that the sensation of a half black man being president only confirms the racism of its supporters. But however the most extravagant irony in all this, is that were the Obama - for being black - supporters not racists, then it would matter to them that unlike the American blacks, Mr President is a descendant of most likely slave-owners, not slaves.
2) Freaking American Idol. Not the first time it happens in history but the idolatry is alarming.
3) Statism: The O' Movement sees the World ruled by some misterous Karma - as they have lost all philosophical foundations, or never had any. In this fake worldview where restoring a mythical "balance" is the goal, there is a need for a big charismatic figure to act as "the force of history" or like an ancient Chinese Emperor, or Pharoah. Around him, the balancing can occur more easily and it can take diverse forms:
-Balancing geopolitical power by nodding at rogue states
-Balancing productive forces with arbitrary obstacles in the name of Godess Nature. Pollution decreases as technology upgrades, and that only happens when production is fully unleashed.
-Balancing the myth of the "rich" and the "poor" in the hopes of creating an real division between an elite law-making class, and a general law-abiding population.
The goal is always the same: balancing the good with the bad - as most religions and philosophies have always taught us; without caring to notice that the whole premise is wrong.
It's not socialism folks, notice all the subtleties and balances. It's just another step closer to fascism. Hopefully, and I am confident on this, American creativity will out-evolve government restrictions before it statizes all.
After saying all this I must admit that some of the most anti free-market measures have been enacted by Republicans from the Sherman (1890) to the Sabarnes Oxley act.
