Wish Me Luck

I got it. I'm legal. lol
Should have the DNI Tuesday
It was actually pretty painless. 40 minute wait for the appointment, and about an hour with the officer. Had to sign a half dozen forms to atttest to my address, parents names and nationalities, income, etc.
Then a picture and fingerprints.
And then a handshake and a "Bienvenidos a Argentina".

I don't think the income thing has changed. I only showed my SS income (a shade over $1500), and they accepted that without question.

my guess, from my experience, is you will have a disposcion, which is a 3 page document on tuesday.
This means you are going to get a DNI tarjeta.
But a tarjeta DNI comes from Renaper, and mine have been running 4 months or so. (last year they lost me, and just told me, wait til next year)
You can do some things with the disposcion.
And a lot of things, people want a physical card, or a photo of a physical card.
I hope I am wrong, but, having received 3 successive 1 year visas, that has been my experience.

I, too, have been waiting three months for this year's plastic card, despite now three attempts by my lawyer to kick-start the process. It hasn't been a problem in past years, but this year the system seems not to be working.

10,000 russians/ukranians changes everything. I heard that 30,000 came here, but I am told around 10k are actually applying to migraciones.

Update on my never-delivered DNI that was due three months ago. It turns out to be a never-made DNI. I went with my lawyer to Renaper today and they explained that (for reasons not explained--it's just the way the system works), when it is the third and final temporary residency year, even though they photograph you at Migraciones and take your fingerprints, the tramite often doesn't find its way to Renaper. It's up to the applicant to make an appointment and go in and have Renaper take a new set of fingerprints and a photo. Of course, they wouldn't do that for me today. I have an appointment for next week. Then they will make the DNI, and then send it. I'll end up getting it in my hand four or five months after the disposicion.

Was it possible to apply for the cambio de categoria from temporary to permanent residency when you got the the third visa, or is the next one actually going to be the third renewal?
