Wish Me Luck

Update on my never-delivered DNI that was due three months ago. It turns out to be a never-made DNI. I went with my lawyer to Renaper today and they explained that (for reasons not explained--it's just the way the system works), when it is the third and final temporary residency year, even though they photograph you at Migraciones and take your fingerprints, the tramite often doesn't find its way to Renaper. It's up to the applicant to make an appointment and go in and have Renaper take a new set of fingerprints and a photo. Of course, they wouldn't do that for me today. I have an appointment for next week. Then they will make the DNI, and then send it. I'll end up getting it in my hand four or five months after the disposicion.
This might explain why my DNI hasn't made its way over to Ranaper after three months and counting. I'm on my third year of temp residency also. Do you know if you can go to any Renaper office to seek an appointment? And, did you and the lawyer take a physical copy of your new residency approval from migrations to Renaper when you went and initially made the proper appointment? Assuming I can just go to the office myself if I just need to make an appointment to go back for fingerprints and photo.

I don't think the income thing has changed. I only showed my SS income (a shade over $1500), and they accepted that without question.
The monthly income requirement will have to be officially changed before they ask for a higher amount to be transferred. When they make the next change, it will be in increments of monthly minimum salaries and without any advance notice. The new amount will immediately apply to new applicants, but individuals who have current visas will not be required to transfer the new amount until they get their next temporary residency.

It may never be changed. The whole concept could disappear. Or may have already disappeared. So nobody can make these kinds of predictions.

As per my message in a separate thread, following discussion with my lawyer, there is now ambiguity between the precise calculation of "5 X minimum wage" and the vague concept of solvencia economica suficiente, and he says it is possible that this may never be resolved. The latter may override the former in all cases (and thus it becomes a subjective case-by-case judgement without a formal formula based on the minimum wage). The former may continue to apply to temporary residency, and the latter only kick in for the final transition to permanent residency. There is no way of knowing how they are going to manage all this going forward.

For what it's worth, my lawyer suggested continuing with the 5 X minimum wage formula in this, my third year of the temporary residency. I told him to let me know as soon as (or if) there is anything to suggest greater definition around the concept of solvencia economica suficiente. But it is clear, at least for temporary residents in the lead up to applying for our permanent residency, that we cannot assume that at the time they are assessing our permanent residency application, they will consider the delivery of 5 X minimum wage each month that we have been diligently observing to equal a demonstration of solvencia economica suficiente. But it may...

Yes, there is every chance that is the reason for your delay.

We made an appointment online here: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/interi...-vigente-turnos-para-tramites-dni-extranjeros

The earliest ones were for 11 July. One miraculously opened up for 19 June while we were online trying to register.

Don't bother going in. Just book the turno online and take your passport, disposicion and expired DNI with you on the day and explain that your DNI never turned up.

I will report back here what happens on 19 June in my case.

We did our third pensionista for the year 2025, next year we can apply for permanent.

I have four decades of experience visiting and living in Buenos Aires. I lack words even in English to describe the Medusa that is Migraciones.

I have an acquaintance in Migraciones who said to make a single deposit of 5X the minimum salary into my bank account and present proof of the deposit. I did so and Migraciones did not ask for another. This go-round, who knows? I doubt that they know.

I usually do the trámite myself but no longer do I possess the patience nor the mental stamina to deal with them and so have decided to use a reputable gestor to deal with Migraciones. The sole reason for my citizenship solicitation was to avoid the insanity of Migraciones, and reading the dialogues here only reinforces the practicality of doing so.

I wish everyone here the best of luck with their trámite. It eventually gets done yes, but it never seems easy.

A good weekend to all.

This all went quite well. They took a new photo and a new set of fingerprints and issued a document saying the DNI is in tramite that I can use everytime somebody wants to see a DNI and doesn't understand what the disposicion I give them means. He said the current waiting time for delivery is between two weeks and two months, from today.

The guy again mentioned something about it being the third renewal, so there is definitely a bug, or a different system, that for some reason comes (or can come) into play at this point and can inexplicably mean that what is an automatic and invisible process for renewals one and two (Migraciones take your photo and fingerprints and pass them to Renaper, who makes the DNI and then send it to your address) is not automatic and invisible at renewal three--it won't happen (or may not happen) unless you make it happen yourself.
