FWIW I tried all my cards (using iPhone / Apple Pay) at one of the subway gates the other day and none worked. Maybe they mean they'll let you pay at ticket machines with cards? In many countries in Europe you can just enter by swiping your credit card at the gates.

Apparently, you can't pay with an iPhone.

Weird, maybe they found Apple Pay too hard / expensive to implement.

Apparently you can top up a physical SUBE card using your iPhone.

I understand that only certain designated turnstiles have readers that work with cards/cell phones, not all. Just try different "readers" at turnstiles or ask the ticket agent at the desk.

I paid via Google Pay (international visa card) it let me through but then didn't charge me. I've yet to try a physical card, but I see people usinng their debit and credit cards without issue all the time.

I'm waiting for the Subte to support the digital SUBE card. The busses take the digital SUBE, yet the Subte doesn't, makes no sense to me...

It's funny that you say that because I went through using a local Visa card and they did not charge me either.
