You can now pay for Subte with cards and mobile phones

From this article:

> You can now pay your fare on the Buenos Aires Subte (subway) with contactless credit and debit cards, as well as digital wallets like Google Pay, Apple Pay, and local wallets such as MODO.

and

> Look out for the purple screens on the turnstiles that are compatible with cards and NFC devices.

I tried this last weekend using Apple Pay with two differently looking gates but no dice. Don't remember whether there were purple screens though.

Did the terminal look like this one?

Ah, no definitely not. While the article states they added the new entrances all over town, which didn’t seem likely

Can confirm that the ones with the purple screens (very subtle difference in look) work, with iPhone Apple Pay Mastercard Debit in my case.

I recommend you are careful if you take out your phone to pay. My phone was robbed recently at the subte, and i heard of other similar cases. Hope it helps!
Sorry to hear of your loss, can you tell us which subte stop did this happen and time of day ???.

I'm sorry about that. My cell phone was taken from my hands inside a bus. You run that risk any time you display your cell phone in public, unless there is a policeman right in front of you. There was even an attempt to take the phone from my hands being inside a taxi, through the window opened about 10 centimeters. So the advise is to be alert at all times.

Sorry to hear that Silvie!
