I think it's clear that the author of the paper I cited finds the definition of the Holocaust to be exclusive to the extermination of six million Jews, but she also believes that the deaths of millions of non-Jews who also were murdered by the Nazis has been obscured by the focus on the Holocaust.
Just want to add (in the author's own words) "[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]as strictly a Jewish event must be corrected." to the sentence in the above quote.[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]I think the author would agree that (to use Thorsten's exact words) "the most commonly used definition of the Holocaust - in Europe and in the US - is the genocide of Jews by the Nazi regime" but she would like to change that definition to include all of those murdered by the Nazis as detailed in her paper.[/background]
[background=rgb(252, 252, 252)]Nonetheless, the "Holocaust" will continued to be defined as the extermination of six million European Jews by the Nazi and although many children will learn this in school, they may never learn about the other sixteen to twenty million victims of the Nazi butchers.[/background]
