    Ex-patriots or expatriates

From the NY Times http://topics.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/17/when-spell-check-cant-help-14/ I think we knew this anyway... ••• The Mark Cross name had some glamour attached to it; it was owned by Gerald Murphy’s family — Murphy and his wife, Sara, ex-patriots living in France in the ’20s...

Video: The expat view from Buenos Aires

The video seems like a student film and they are playing with video software, instead of a video from the FT. I was dizzy with all the sweeps. Wow, it almost made me regret that I am leaving BA. Maybe it is a little too rosy picture of BA, but I did fall in love with BA and I did move here, so...

    Exercise classes or cheap gyms?

I can't find a website for them, they really are basic, but they do not push you for long term membership like the other ones. Simply pay once a month. I would say more females than males especially in the classes. Go by and look at it and pick up a schedule for classes. Uriburu 1012 Good luck.

    Exercise classes or cheap gyms?

Cheap and decent are probably two different gyms. I am a member of a gym called carribean gym for 140 pesos a month. On Uriburu between Sante Fe and Marcelo T. No frills, just basic equipment and classes.

    Moving Sale: general stuff

Hi, Continuation of my pre-moving sale. I will try and keep these to a minimum of postings. But I have few things left and almost ready to go. Photos are here or https://picasaweb.google.com/101976872041534731319/ForSaleBA?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJGb1b-ZsauG3gE&feat=directlink Computer...

Bringing Electronics into ARG from the States

For the past 5 or 6 years, if you are a foreigner, they really will not bother you, unless you are carrying a big box that is obviously new. Even the scanning is sort of a joke, they scan your bags, see all the electronics and wave you through. I guess it is sort of trafficking in the legal...

    Fashion in BA

They are called hair extensions, available everywhere here in BA, even young teenagers are doing it. I am amazed at how expensive they are and that everyone is wearing them. Where do they get all this money.

    Shock at the Supermarket

You are really out of touch. None of this is new. I am sure you have not been in COTO in years, all these prices have been around for a while, even if your prices are a little higher than actual prices, and this cheese has always sucked. You need to get out more and open your eyes. Prices are...

    Fashion in BA

More like a couple of sizes too small. In the US, they would say that only gay men wear their clothes so tight. Here the skinny teens wear very tight clothing and I guess if you are skinny it is nice to show it off, but they are showing ribs so it isn't very sexy.

New York or Miami for shopping

I lived in NYC for 20 years and heading back soon. NYC is a great place to shop, maybe a little less centralize, like in a mega mall. Also you will need to study up on which stores to look for. Miami or Fort Lauderdale has the largest outlet mall in the world, called Sawgrass Mills , it takes...

    Vent/Rant

My mom sent me a birthday card via regular US mail and received it 1 1/2 months late, she had allowed a few weeks for delivery as well. So if you need it, call your bank and have them send it directly to you here, via FEDEX. Both my banks in the US have done this and did not charge me either.

    Acer laptop charger

http://www.mercadolibre.com.ar/ is the best place for things like this. I found a charger for my mac here and it was reasonable. Or you can find a charger in the galleria on Florida probably, they have tons of computer supplies and not priced so badly for Argentina.

    The iron Lady thatcher movie

I saw it here in BA about 4 or 5 weeks ago in English with Spanish subtitles. Besides Meryl Streep, it was not worth seeing.

    Pesos in the US=No Good

My idea was to deposit all my left over pesos here, when I move, in my Santander Rio account and use my Santander Rio credit card in the states. Then just go online and pay my credit card with my left over pesos, until I have used them up. It makes sense to me now, however I am sure some new...
