Congress to limit foreign ownership of Argentine land

I agree, remember this is a country where both peoples personal bank accounts and retirement savings have been seized by the government, both have occurred in the last ten years so bad things do happen. Seizing property would be a lot harder but they could do something like drastically raising...

Another "brilliant" pro business move by decree [again]

Just in case we forget it's all relative. No perfect system has been found since the beginning of time. The economic system we have today is the product of hundreds of years of experience, trail and error, some good things, some bad things, lessons learned or not. It's still evolving. Attempts...

Another "brilliant" pro business move by decree [again]

I think there are several good points being made on capitalism vs. socialism. The societies were some socialist elements seem to work are those that keep a very healthy capitalist economic system that pays for the socialist elements. A command economy like China really isn't the same as a true...

    When is the Next Crisis?

Sounds like you are describing Venezuela, Cuba, or some other socialist paradise. Unfortunately the government in Argentina seems to be trying to emulate some of the same policies that would make this unhappy result possible.

    When is the Next Crisis?

I think this is incorrect. About 2/3 of China's economy is investment, i.e. real estate, commercial property, shopping malls, many of which are empty or underutilized. A substantial part of their growth is really just building stuff that not needed just so it can be counted as GDP growth (this...

    When is the Next Crisis?

I think the answer is that if commodity fall significantly there simply isn't anything else thats going to bring in that kind of income to Argentina. If the fall in prices occurs then people are going to lose their jobs and spending on everything will decrease. There has been little investment...

    When is the Next Crisis?

I agree, although I will say that they have kept the issues in discussion however misguided their thinking is.

    When is the Next Crisis?

Love to have discussion with you but it's tough when one party won't even acknowledge the facts. You must be one of the few people in Argentina that doesn't acknowledge there is an inflation problem. How does Argentina become a garage when the government discourages construction of the...

    When is the Next Crisis?

Ed I'm not sure I understand all your points but it looks like you have been drinking a little to much of the Kirchner cool-aide. Growth is somewhere around 8% but inflation is no where near 15% more like 30%, if that's not alarming I don't know what is. The reason the countries in South America...

    When is the Next Crisis?

I think the situation in Argentina today is basically run-away government spending increases 30-40% year over year and money supply growing at 25+ percent a year. This has led to the inflation you see now. What's keeping things afloat at the moment is very high commodity prices and the revenues...

Add another country, Bolivia, Ecuador, then you could name it something like The Three Stooges do South America, The Three Stooges South of the Border, etc.

Argentina on the cusp of hyperinflation

Your right you don't know much about the subject, I would read up, it could have a big impact in the near future on Argentina.

Argentina on the cusp of hyperinflation

The inflation in Argentina is the result of the government's headlong pursuit of growth at any cost, massive increases in government spending (and money supply) underpinned by the commodity boom. The commodity boom in turn is driven by demand from China. Two-thirds of the Chinese economy is...

    Maximo for Vice President?

I believe he is 32 or 33. I'm not sure there is an age requirement to be president in Argentina or not. Perhaps someone who knows could post. Sure he looks like a fat slob badly in need of a haircut but this is Argentina and anything is possible.

Which fuse to take out on a Jeep to impede it runs ?

I assume you got to B.A. and back without any problems. I was going to tell you that whatever precautions you take it probably wouldn't make that much difference. If professional thieves decided they wanted your vehicle they would get it. By disabling you would probably only dissuade the amateurs.

    Maximo for Vice President?

The thought that Cristina has not announced yet her intentions to run for re-election strikes me as a little odd. It seems to me that she may be reluctant to serve another full term. To me it would seem to make sense to name her own son Maximo as running mate. She could run on her own popularity...

i have a cavity: should i get dental insurance or just go to a doc?

I know a guy who is really cheap, in fact he accepts only cash. He comes to you, he treats and operates out of the back seat of his car, keeps his overhead low. Nothing fancy mind you. If you want Novacaine it's extra.

    Buying a House

I think this is very true and I'll bet many of the people that bought property later regretted it as they had to wait to sell it or sold it at a loss.
