Best country to move to when life in Argentina becomes intolerable

Brazil or anywhere in the EU is my backup plan, but my spouse is a Brazilian/Portuguese dual citizen, so we have options on that front.

    Residency through non-Argentine spouse

Hi, has anyone gone through the PR process with a Brazilian spouse, where both of you are applying at the same time? (I'm a US citizen, she's eligible for permanent residency under Ley 26240) Did Migraciones do the interview too, or is that reserved for when you marry someone with an existing...

Roma and Güerrin are my favorites.

Anyone missed the police visit for the certificado de domicilio?

^ this. Also, the one from the police is free, while you have to pay for the one from the city.

Anyone missed the police visit for the certificado de domicilio?

We ended up going back to the police with the envelope my FBI records came in and our marriage certificate from here, and they issued it on the spot for both of us. The correct answer is, it’s Argentina and depending on who you talk to, when you talk to them, the answer changes. So, if you’re...

    Permanent residence interview after marriage

I’m about to be going through the PR process, alongside my wife. (She’s Brazilian, so we’re applying together for permanent residency through the bilateral agreement) so I’m curious what, if any, differences there are in the process.

    Issues with Coto shopping

This is the reason I carry a passport card. The only time I’ve ever had a problem is at Western Union, but otherwise, nobody has ever batted an eye at it.

Anyone missed the police visit for the certificado de domicilio?

Unfortunately, that's not an option, because neither my wife or I have a DNI, so we don't have utility bills in our name.

Anyone missed the police visit for the certificado de domicilio?

It's pretty much self-explanatory. I'm not completely sure I missed it yet, because I filed the request at my local comisaría on Friday, but does anyone know if they'll come back around and retry, if they miss you the first time?

    Freshly squeezed orange juice

Agreed. The Citric Valencia is my go to OJ when I don’t want to break out the juicer, though I do like the Sanguínea

Best "American style" Thanksgiving in Argentina?

I bought about a kilo of dried ones to make homemade cranberry sauce for my celebration at home, since my wife and I had several friends over from our church.

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

My bank refunds up to $10/month of international ATM fees, so my trip to Galicia ended up with an effective 898 after the 1% fee. Definitely better than WU for small amounts, especially when considering time to get to WU, compared to a 70m walk to the nearest Galicia branch.

Colonia money run via Buquebus - A quick review

We went cattle (tourist) class yesterday because I had to leave and re-enter for an Argentine bureaucracy reason, and it was smooth sailing. Definitely agree with seeing Colonia outside the high season, because I'm sure it could be aggravating with the touristy crowds and the even higher prices...

Foreign credit cards purchases at MEP rate

I bought tickets to Brazil for my fiancée and I on LATAM, and we got around MEP, saving roughly 15% over paying in dollars or reais.

Thoughts on Being an Expat in Buenos Aires

I’ve built a solid group of friends in the year or so I’ve been in Argentina, and I’d put my life in their hands. In a couple of cases, when we packed nine people into a compact SUV, I have. Admittedly, they’re not all Argentine, but rather a mix of Argentines and Brazilians, with an odd...

    Western Union money transfer

Not only different customers, but also just the difference between app and website can be massive as well. I've seen the site show me a $26.99 fee while logged in and the app show me $5.99 for the same amount

Absolutely at blue. Official is a myth propped up by the BCRA to hide how bad inflation really is.
