Google Fi: Your international data roaming will be suspended soon

I finally got the notice after living here for 4 years. Gotta think about my next steps. Those still on Fi might wanna be thinking about next steps too. They might come for you next! (this was about 120 days outside the USA).

    Surrogacy

"As mutually agreed" could easily turn into an extortion game in which she has a significant advantage over you. Could she demand support for the baby she now wants but won't give to you? Or if the perspective parents decide against having a baby the new mother is now left "holding the baby"...

Married to an Argentine citizen, questions about residency

the most painful thing to do is the FBI background check + apostille. In the USA, it takes 24hrs and then you need to send it to DC for rubber stamping (taking weeks now). They have electronic machines for taking finger prints. Abroad... first you'll need to get your finger prints inked and...

    Surrogacy

Surrogacy in legally grey jurisdictions is very problematic. The laws protect both sides of the transaction. The surrogate could just as easily exploit you as you can exploit them. At the end of the day, i wonder in Argentina with a surrogate who is legally the mother and father and who could...

When I move here what special things should I bring that are hard to get?

If i want to taste America, i'm cooking it myself and making all the components from scratch. I wanted an American Pizza. That meant making sauce and the dough from scratch. Same thing with pulled pork. I need to figure out how the old hands back home make bbq sauces and get on that. As it...

    Macbook repair suggestions

My wife "cleaned" her computer a bit too zealously. I ended up buying the part in the US on my next trip back to recover it. If the computer has lights and/or noises that's better. if it ... doesn't well, that's an expensive repair indeed and might be better off going a country with repair...

my wife and i are in our late 30s, if we were to split our time between Argentina and another country, would it behoove use to maintain Argentine prepagas just to not worry about losing coverage? Its not _that_ expensive.

which documents to bring for first time DNI appointment?

I’m American and the process was super chill in entre ríos. I was using Sede Central in CABA for a while. That was a nightmare. Once I moved to Entre Ríos every thing became easier and simpler. DNI, citizenship, driver’s license. So much less drama. Although I can’t eat pastrami nearly as often.

    Citizenship

i just told them. i don't think they really looked too hard? I mean they check everything (afip/interpol/etc). If your wife/husband has legal income (which isn't guaranteed in Argentina..) you should use that vs exposing your overseas assets/income to afip if they're not already exposed. The...

You can reduce your "income" by taking loans against revenue generating assets (like property). and You could structure your investments to not generate income (no dividends). When you need cash, take a loan against the investment.
