    Pádel coach in BA

I play pickleball in the USA and it seems nonexistent here. I’m curious about Pádel - does anyone know a way a novice can try, perhaps get a lesson. I’m in Las Canitas if that’s relevant.

    Boston cream pie in BA?

Turns out the cake is pretty good (this from someone who is not a cake or sweet food lover) cake is NOT too sweet and it tastes right. Wife’s reaction, after all this trouble: “you always think my favorite is Boston cream pie, but it’s really chocolate cream pie”. But she’s very happy with this.

    Boston cream pie in BA?

I don’t think Boston cream pie is that great - it’s too sweet for me. Alfajores remind me of a medical glucose tolerance test.

    Boston cream pie in BA?

Boston cream pie is my wife’s favorite and it’s her birthday tomorrow. It looks like a huge alfajor but unlike those is edible. I saw a thread from last year recommending Tefi Pasteleria in Belgrano a the best place to find one. Does anyone have any recent info or suggestions here? Thanks in...

Anybody else notice coffee recently not tasting good?

In much of the developed world, except Argentina, Spain, Italy - coffee is offered as light/medium/dark roast (dark includes such things as espresso roast). These correspond to the color of the coffee - light brown, medium and dark brown. The argument for light roast coffee is that it has more...

Anybody else notice coffee recently not tasting good?

(there is apparently a global combination of increased demand for coffee and chocolate, especially higher quality, with reduced supply causing much coffee around the world to drop in quality) Has anyone found *light* roast coffee here? I haven’t found any

Where do you find things like cultural events and theater, music, museum exhibits in BA?

How do you find what there is to do around here? I see some placards advertising movies, sometimes musicals, ands a few music events. There has to be a more organized or digital way to find them but I’m not finding them - I’ve tried English and Spanish language newspapers online and they don’t...

Do clip-on sunglasses exist in CABA?

I lost the one I clip to my regular glasses, and I’ve asked opticians for replacements. They say only specific glasses frames with magnetic sunglass attachments are available.

The global business elite is infatuated with Milei

I’m a newbie here, but don’t think announcements create anything but more talk. Global business investment looks for things like efficiency, stability, supply chains, productive work forces, regulation/corruption risks. These look like things that Argentina has as works in progress. History of...

    Restaurants in Palermo

Sorry for the tangent from the opening post, I meant that New Jersey is easy to oversimplify and often people extrapolate that the place is all like a few examples - perhaps the suburbs, the shore, some rough cities

    Restaurants in Palermo

I usually live in a cabin on a small lake on top of what passes for a ski mountain in an alpine microclimate on the north tip of NJ. New Jersey is a classic place for reductionist attitudes some of which are right. I’m hating the sectarianism in the US and loving BsAs as a less divisive (!!?!)...

    Doctors fees

She’s still getting used to them, but does like them. The podiatrist there speaks no English but communicated with our work-in-progress Spanish and his translation app, a really nice guy. I’m getting some (even though I don’t really need them) when he’s back from vacation

    Doctors fees

My wife had custom orthotics measured at the Dr Scholls in Belgrano and fabricated a couple of weeks ago, to replace the pair of 500$+ ones she had made in Manhattan before COVID that were worn out. The two pairs cost either 20 or 40 dollars

Private Spanish Tutor for basic Spanish next week?

For reference, I’m paying 13$us an hour for a teacher who teaches Spanish at UBA. That was at the high end of what I found

Private Spanish Tutor for basic Spanish next week?

To be fair to Vamos, I enjoyed my classes there and learned some useful material. It also had some positive social aspects, though much of the student body is more backpacker/hostel and much younger. My instructor, Diego, is knowledgeable and entertained us with stories about his one eyed cat...
