    Boise, Idaho anyone?

I'm a PNW native. Lived all over the region. Sherwood/Newberg, Oregon are what you're looking for. Has the best mix of everything. I still spend several months a year there though I primarily live in Taiwan and rural Japan.

Milei's first speech as a president

Living within your means (aka austerity) restores the integrity of your economic system but it's only half the solution. The other half is to increase your means by producing enough goods and services (aka wealth) to allow you to live well. Milei is going to fail if he implements only the stick...

    Divorce already!

Hopefully you’ve learned a good lesson here and it won’t end up being the hard way. Bottom line is always get it in writing before you sign anything and if you can’t for some reason, don’t sign. That’s why smart men like Leonardo DiCaprio don’t end up like Johnny Depp.

    Divorce already!

What’s sad is that men will continue to enter into unwritten marital contracts and then be reduced to asking strangers on the internet what the terms of their contract are when things go south because they have no clue.

    Divorce already!

This situation illustrates an important point. The marriage contract is the most important legal contract most people will ever enter into yet it's not available in clearly written form beforehand like all other contracts with all its key terms spelled out, eliminating all uncertainty. There's a...

Henry Kissinger Finally Kicked His Bucket of Blood

It was a big shock for Henry the moment he realized that the purpose of this sliver of physical life at the beginning of our eternal existence isn’t to amass wealth and power but rather to allow us to freely choose who and where we want to be for eternity.

Dollarization May Work Better on YouTube Than in Reality

The money quote: "Argentina . . . as economist Marcelo Diamand described back in 1969, suffers from an “unbalanced productive structure.” It is the only nation in the world where agriculture is dozens of times more productive per capita than industry, World Bank data shows."

Economists warn electing Milei would spell devastation

Hello again from Taiwan. As an expat living in a prosperous entrepreneur’s paradise like Taiwan with no natural resources other than its human capital it’s clear that what will make or break Argentina is whether or not it has the capacity for cultural change. Will young Argentinians let go of...

On Argentina’s Pampas, Farmers Are All In on Libertarian Milei

Half of all farmland in Argentina is used for producing soy. It's Argentina's biggest export at 36% of the total and constitutes 20% of the world's soy supply. As you noted, an export tax of 33% is levied on 77% of soy, which means 28% of Argentina's exports are being taxed at 33%. Meanwhile the...

On Argentina’s Pampas, Farmers Are All In on Libertarian Milei

They don’t need to. “Perhaps the biggest bane for growers are export tariffs: When they send soybeans to Rosario’s ports, roughly one of every three trucks they load is, in essence, diverted to government coffers. Controls that keep the peso artificially strong also greatly curtail revenue and...

Economists warn electing Milei would spell devastation

The air is coming out of the USD too so good luck with using it as a life raft: ”In the context of higher interest rates, without effective fiscal policy measures to reduce government spending or increase revenues, Moody’s expects that the US’ fiscal deficits will remain very large...

The Case For President Sergio Massa

I think that's the wrong question to ask. The correct question I believe is who do you know who would be the best choice for Argentina and why? It could be anybody at all. Once four or five Argentinians had been nominated by a quorum of citizens an election would be held. The winner would be...

    Where to vote tomorrow.

Printing an actual denomination on a peso note in a high inflation environment throws people off though when you’re trying to peg a currency. Just printing a big”X” on it instead of a number makes the job much easier.

    Where to vote tomorrow.

Maybe Milei can introduce the X-peso and peg it to 1 USD. That way he can have his cake and eat it too by just printing up 40 billion X-pesos and be done with it.
