Would love to meet creative types that are really putting down roots here.

Let's do it! What do you think is better, meet up for an event ... or meet for drinks? I'm a videoartist/editor ... what field are you all in?

So weird and so terrible! Do you have someone with a local bank account that you trust enough to have money put in their account and they can take it out and give to you?

    Counterfeit Pesos

Since cashiers spend so much time eyeing my pesos, I thought I should brush up on how to spot a fake one. Supposedly there a load out there, so if you can't tell the difference here is a good link . http://santelmoloft.com/2011/07/22/fake-money-in-argentina/

    Really hard to make friends

I've been here 6months and am always hesitant about "friending" expats because I don't want a revolving door social life, if that makes sense. If you're travelling it's totally fine, but if you live in a place it's a bummer to be constantly meeting new people then quickly saying goodbye. Would...

    Has anyone used XOOM before?

Do you have a DNI? And were you able to pick up pesos at the 5peso rate or was it 4.3?

I KNOW I'm totally jumping the gun, it's just that it's not trackable here with the customs #. Hate comparing countries, but in Brazil I was able to track packages online with the same number. After reading all the horror stories with mail here it's just made me extra paranoid, plus moving this...

Steve, I know it should have gone through a courier ... can't be mad at a senior citizen for trying to help ... Mom thought the days of "lost" mail would be over now that I've left the gun laden jungle (Rio) and entered civilization (Buenos Aires). Kevin, good to know ... on the Paypal site...

Before coming to BsAs I was in Rio for over a year so I'm accustomed to how things move to a different drum and definitely realize that I'm not in the US anymore and have accepted that there's certain things I just must do without. I've been very patient and accepting. HOWEVER ... I may be at...

    A few Correo questions!

FedEx stole my computer during a move from LA to NY and broke my turntables. They were throwing my 40 boxes off the truck as if they were doing drills for the Globetrotters. This was almost 10years ago. My heart STILL races when I see their logo. Criminals in delivery uniforms.

    No mas "Free Events?"

When I arrived in November it seemed as if there were a load of free events in the city. Now, I almost never see any advertised. Is it because of summer or the economy?

    Polo Today in Palermo

I don't see any matches listed on the site for this week. Are you certain they'll be at the same location? I missed the match today ... bummed:(.

    No Wire Transfers Anymore?

oops ... thought you were using a metaphor with "cash under the mattress;)!" If you know someone that you trust here with a local bank, give them the money to deposit and then they can send it to your paypal account.

I'll know I have put down roots here when...

wouldn't mind if the the peso and dollar were equal IF "it was the same value for the buck."

I'll know I have put down roots here when...

I can tell if prices are in Pesos or USD ... it's REALLY hard to tell which is which, and I feel like such an idiot when I have to ask...sigh.
