Need Australian Women for Voiceover work

I must say, as someone who has done thousands of hours of voiceover work both character and narration, that even in Argentina US$15/hour is way too low a price, at least for someone who knows what they are doing or has a great voice.

    Free Portugese Classes?

You may want to to call the Brazilian cultural centre (a part of the local embassy), they would certainly know.

    Getting to Bogota...cheap

I have a friend, who just spent 3 days in Iguazu waiting for a bus to Lima (without success) and finally came back to Buenos Aires. She needs to get back to Bogota (her home), but the airfares are stupid -- more than US$1000 one-way. Does anyone have any ideas? Bus, plane, everything is...

Who will be traveling to the usa and back soon?

I find the MAJORITY of my letters and post cards TO Canada and the US simply vanish. But stangely enough, almost everything arives here with no problem, including various parcels that have been sent for Christmas/birthdays/etc. i think it is a it of a crap-shoot, unless you fork out for FedEx or...

    Buenos Aires touch rugby!!

Touch Rugby? Isn't that sort of like racquet-less tennis? Just kidding, but I have never heard of such a thing. If you can't make the other guy bleed, it isn't rugby!!

Transferring money to Argentina from the US

Also, keep in mind that while prices for real estate are always in US dollars, the law in Argentina syas that ALL transactions must be completed in Pesos, although with property that is often avoided, but it is the law. Good luck. Most people skate through with no problems, but some get...

Will tv work from the US work here?

You will find that SAP often does work here, since there is no rule that says broadcasters must carry it. Oh well, welcome to South America!!! RR

    Antofagasta to Salta by bus

I will be in Antofagasta, Chile, next month and want to come back to Buenos Aires by bus. The Argentine portions are easy to figure out, but nobody here can tell me anything about the Antofagasta-Salta portion - my first link of three. Has anyone done this trip? The travel agents here in BA say...

Blood in the streets (and sidwalks).

A TV series is your authoritative source? And not all big cities are dangerous. I lived in Toronto for 10 years and there isn't a street I wouldn't walk down at 4am. Only about 50-60 murders each year in a city of close to 4 million - and half of those are domestic disputes. Most police close...

    ahead of the weather

The problem with all of these is the the forecasts change so quickly here it is always hard to predict. I've the forecasts go from sunny to thunderstorms and back to sunny, all in 4-5 hours.

    national anthem in schools

In Canada they still sing the anthem every morning in schools. Or at least it is played throughout the school; I think a lot of student just mumble or do nothing. Canadians are not given to effusive displays of patriotism and many adults no longer even know the words. They also changed them...

Expats meet up this Friday night

I've got the details. I am going to try and come. But there is also a free concert in Parque Centenario that evening at 8PM. And I love my culture... when it's free!!!

Brand New! looking for a room to rent.

I live in a huge 5-bedroom apartment near Congresso. It ain't fancy, but its decent. Subway at the door. The landlord (who lives here) is very cool. There is a decent sized room with a big window that he charges US$300 for, which is not bad for BA. The other roommates (most stay here a few...

Would anyone be interested in a fiction writers group?

Shorter is not necessarily easier. Mark Twain famously said after receiving a telegram requesting 200 words in two days. His response (more or less). "Can't do it. Can do 1000 words in 2 days, or 200 words in 5 days." As a broadcaster, I know how tough it can be to be concise.

Opinion - Congreso / Once for tourists or expats

It's defintely off the Tourist path, but it is quite close to the subway linea A, which gets you right to Casa Rosada in about 10 minutes, it conncts with all the other lines as well. Its a fairly safe area, but not particularly interesting. Lot's of really cheap shopping along the streets...

Erstwhile Englishman (left when I was rather young), lived here for a few years. Journalist. Certainly up for something. But probably not tango or accordion (no rhythm on either count). Try [email protected]

    Hammock

You'll want to call them first to make sure, but there is a great outdoors store on Yrigoyen, right near 9 de Julio called Wildlife. I would think they would have it. That said, I have tried a two-person hammock - have you? I found it remarkale uncomfortable!!! But good luck just the same. Also...

    Villa 31

You will have to find someone from the Villa itself. There are things called neighbours associations, but your best bet is to hook up with the groups that work wit the cartoneros - since many of the residents are cartoneros. There are a few such groups around.

    Any English Bookstore

The Clarin books have been around for some time. There is a bookstore on Corrienties right near Libertad - very close to 9 de Julio and the subte that has quite a few (maybe 50 different books). These are short (40-50 pages) abridged versions of classics. Best of all, they are only 2 pesos each...

    Any English Bookstore

I just fou d a new one. On Av de Mayo, north side, between 9 de Julio and Florida (I knw that's a few blocks, but I didn't note the exact location). Its very old SPanish used book shop, with some great stuff. But they do have English books and right now they are all on sale. And I certainly...
