    alternatives to dollarization ?

I am not talking about the world, I am talking about Latin America.... What is best for Latin America might not be the best for US dollar based expats. But since I will be a US dollar based expat myself, I feel my proposal would be better than the status quo, and probably more politically...

    alternatives to dollarization ?

Why are Milei and Argentina obsessed by the US dollar? Over the last year the Mexican Peso and the Brazilian Real have outperformed the US dollar. And inflation in Brazil has stabilized over the last couple of years at a few percent annually. Brazil has the largest GDP in Latin America...

    Argentinas global tax system

Well so far it looks like Milei supports the income tax cut (exemption increase)..... he commented on the decree as follows: From: https://www.batimes.com.ar/news/argentina/income-tax-bill-clears-lower-house-with-support-from-milei-left.phtml Translated quote from above web link: "In turn...

Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

Many thanks, very interesting. Sounds like a crap shoot right now, it makes planning difficult. But it sounds like Migracionies are allowing use of dollar accounts and WU, so that avoids the problem of the official exchange rate.

Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

Thanks, this is very interesting. Has migracionies asked you for evidence that you deposited into that US dollar account? And were they satisfied with the evidence you provided? How long have you had this visa, and have you renewed it recently? It would be especially interesting to hear...

    Pensionado Visa Peso requirement

Thanks for the summary. But I actually did not mean details of citizenship (I already have been following those discussion). I meant I am interested in the details of the new Pensionado visa currency conversion requirements. You say that the citizenship is expensive, yes I am aware of that...

    Pensionado Visa Peso requirement

Sorry, I am not trying to sidetrack the thread. Soon I will qualify for the Pensionista visa, but not sure that it is the best option for me now that I am hearing about the need to convert at the official rate for 2+ years..... immediate citizenship application is sounding more...

    Pensionado Visa Peso requirement

Also I heard it it possible to apply for Argentine citizenship immediately upon arrival, without getting a Pensionista visa, is that correct? That sounds like a cheaper option than being a Pensionista and changing dollars at the official rate for at least two years.

    Merval?

Advice I have received is that the income requirement applies to both types of visa, there is not much doubt about that.

    Merval?

The Argentine stock market is Merval. It looks like in the last year it has risen 321.3%, which is about double the rate of inflation. Might this be a decent place to put surplus pesos ? The new requirements for Pensionado and Rentista visas require remitting to Argentina bank accounts...

Pros and cons of getting married/having kids in Argentina vs USA?

For USA, 10 years is the minimum numbers of years to get the minimum social security benefit. Less than 10 years and you get nothing. To get the maximum benefit you must work at least 35 years, and if you work more than 35 years then they look at the highest 35 years earnings (inflation...

Pros and cons of getting married/having kids in Argentina vs USA?

Yes, as for financial advice..... if you are on the payroll of a USA company, ask them to withhold social security taxes from your paycheck, if they are not doing that already. To maximize your USA social security you need to work on USA payrolls (and pay the social security payroll taxes)...

Pros and cons of getting married/having kids in Argentina vs USA?

Wherever the birth takes place, you will need to register the births with the nearest consulates of USA and Argentina, that is a formality, but necessary to preserve rights and avoid future problems.
