Pre Packaged Bacon Arrives to Argentina

I'm down in Quilmes, about 18K South of Palermo (Across the road from that Dr Guerrissi actually - which felt nice to read here). Since we're on about our fantasy breakfasts I reckon Cumberland sausage, Oxford sausage, Lorne sausage, black pudding, tattie scones, fried bread, them hash-brown...

Pre Packaged Bacon Arrives to Argentina

Make room for the mushrooms! I went to my local Jimbo (My name for the place) and no bacon :( So it's fried jamon crudo, fried eggs and waffles for me tomorrow.

    Vanilla?

Jumbo and other supermarkets have it easily available. Chinatown is a good place to go if you want it fresh - although some veg shops will have it. It is also my favourite word to pronounce in porteño; Baneescha!

Bus & Train Fares to increase (without SUBE card)

So; how do we get a card? I rarely travel into BA but I'd like to just wave it when I do. Do you just pop by a shop with your DNI and get one?

Store Closings: Ralph Lauren, Cartier, Escada, & Zenga

I noticed a closed up Harrods near the shopping mall on Florida when I was there last weekend. Any idea how long that's been closed or any of the details behind it?

Random Sale: Hunter Boots, weights, chipotle peppers, etc.

What type of weights are you selling; the discs that get added to a bar or individual hand singulars which aren't changeable? Interesting list too - I hope you do well from it!

An apology to the Golden Arches

Interesting thread. I went to a Mickey Dee's in Recoleta yesterday prior to seeing The Dark Knight Rises. The plan was to go to TGI's but I couldn't bank on the hour early that I was being enough time to be seated and fed and so bit the bullet. An Aberdeen Angus with bacon later and I was very...

Everything You Love You Owe to Capitalism

I'm so happy that capitalism is bought and paid for progressive communism. Thanks China! Not bad masters so far as luck would have it.

Argentine was sooo mean to me! Is this normal?

Judging from your spelling of 'generalize' I'm guessing you are in North America. I've had no experience with the Argentinian embassy there however the one in London is staffed by some incredibly rude women who make a rather large issue of stating that "It is not their fault" whilst clearly...

Hard to Find seasonings & spices

You can buy caesar sauce in Jumbo (Or indeed in many less prestigious places) for just over 20 pesos, however it isn't difficult to make your own fresh version and all the ingredients are very easy to get hold of in BA (Home made sauce won't keep past a day or two though). Clean the shells of...

Hard to Find seasonings & spices

I cook often, you can find everything you need in Argentina with very few exceptions. You'll have a hard time getting fresh limes, but you can't take them with you anyway, proper 'spicy' chilli powder is very difficult to come by - bring plenty, likewise Tabasco sauce is expensive, you'd save...
