    Bus Advice: Santiago-Mendoza-Retiro

In a few weeks, I'm planning to take a bus from Santiago to Mendoza on a Monday and an overnight bus from Mendoza to Retiro on a Thursday (night). Does anybody with experience know if it is necessary for me to buy bus tickets in advance or if it is safe for me to buy tickets at the respective...

    Exchange Rate Robbery or Reasonable?

I just saw this and as a retired lawyer, I thought I'd respond point-by-point. (For the record, this is basically a tounge-in-cheek response.) Trust me, brother. Unless you practiced law yourself, I've had more experience with them than you have and there's no way you can hate dealing with...

What makes it Christmas for you?

What marks Christmas for me is the mounting anxiety I feel as the day approaches and the immutable prayer for it to come to an end once it finally arrives. ¡Feliz Navidad!

Anyone interested in joining group Spanish classes?? (intermediate-advanced)

I would be interested as well. I've taken eleven weeks of intensive classes, but haven't been in a class in over a year, so I have quite a bit of rust to shake off.

    Thanksgiving in BA

For the record, I saw an entry on Craigslist that Casa Bar is hosting Thanksgiving Day dinner again this year. http://buenosaires.en.craigslist.org/com/2704144641.html

    T-two months!

Hi, Allison. I don't know enough about your situation to give you any personalized advice, but I wanted to say, "hi." I lived in DC for nine years before coming down here for the first time in 2009 and moving here in June. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions or if you want...

    What you won't miss

I'm with Lee. I've never understood why somebody would want to do that to a perfectly good cranberry.

Giants - Patriots game tomorrow Nov. 6th

Casa Bar and El Alamo, both in Recoleta, are good places to watch the NFL. I think Sugar Bar in Palermo Soho is as well, but I've never been there on a Sunday. I'd meet you, but I'm not a supporter of any professional football team. I'm a Panthers fan. :(

    LSU - Alabama

The game starts at 9. I'll probably show up at the bar at around 8:30.

    LSU - Alabama

Anybody feel like meeting up tonight at Casa Bar for the LSU-Alabama game? I have to admit that I'm not a huge college football fan, but it's #1 vs #2, so I sort of feel obliged to watch it. Besides, I am a big fan of Casa Bar's hot wings and I could use a fix. Feel free to PM me and/or post...

Paying rent in pesos vs dollars

Just as a reference point, the agency I've used the last few times has charged me the current rate (not sure how that is defined) +.03. About a month ago, I was charged 4.24 and the rate I was pulling off of google was around 4.21, so it seemed on the up-and-up. Seeing as .03 was less than a...

    robbery with a knife

Instead of me going off on some tangent, I just want to leave it with I'm glad to hear that you're okay and that the harm to you was limited. It's a horrible, horrible thing and I appreciate you sharing your story.

    robbery with a knife

Is (what) descriptive enough? You and your pronouns!!! (Just kidding.) I'll answer a rephrased version of your question. Is the convenience of living in a large city worth the increased risk of being a victim of crime? (I'm rephrasing your question because I'm assuming (dangerous, I know)...

    robbery with a knife

Wow, a lot of nondescript pronouns in that question. Does anybody really think (what)'s worth (what) to live like (what)?
