    Geckos

I’m really hoping they eat mosquitos given the amount of mosquito bites I’ve had lately, my odds of getting dengue must be increasing. In any case, he wasn’t there when I returned. Hopefully he will reappear. Im watching every step I take in the apartment as I’m anxious of accidentally stepping...

    Geckos

Strange topic for discussion, but I encountered a little gecko wandering in my apartment today which has now taken residence in a houseplant. How rare/common are Geckos in Buenos Aires? It’s the first one I’ve ever seen

Entering Argentina for more than 90 days

Does it need to be a flight? Why not a ferry? It’s an onward ticket

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

Is it easy to ask them to provide a new router? Should I mention the Kaon one? I managed to get an hour or two of wifi for Netflix yesterday evening and this afternoon but that’s been all still

Entering Argentina for more than 90 days

You could also book an onwards ticket to Uruguay and later cancel it. I flew to Uruguay with over 90 days between return flight and had my onward ferry to Argentina in case the airline or immigration asked, they didn’t though

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

I managed to get a call to Fibertel, they say they know about it and that it’s an issue for everybody in the area. It worked briefly at 6:30am this morning for 5 minutes and then hasn’t worked ever since. Over 3 days without proper Wifi now

Airbnb strains Buenos Aires' housing market

I have to agree. Irrelevant of politics show me somewhere where airbnb hasn’t distorted the housing market. At the very least, I don’t think you can counter the contrapositive that where it does distort the housing market could be left leaning or could be right leaning. The core problem is...

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

I’ve only spent about 5 months in total in Argentina and work remotely so I don’t tend to have the daily interactions as much as I should to cultivate improving Spanish, in any case I always try to make an effort and reach for google translate when I hit a crossroad. It’s something I feel guilty...

Why aren't there more expats in Uruguay?

From the sky, I’ve never seen a flatter place. Though I quite like it, maybe because my city is just as flat

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

I have no idea to be honest, and my Spanish simply isn’t sufficient to call. My internet is still out, so I’ll probably get in touch with the property owner if it’s still out tomorrow

Why aren't there more expats in Uruguay?

Could you argue that culturally the two are very similar countries (I see memes comparing Uruguay to Shelbyville in the Simpsons) and henceforth the only material differences for expats are size of country, cost of living, ease of immigration procedures and presumably Argentina wins on most of...

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

Is it easy to arrange? I’m currently in an off airbnb rental arrangement and Fibertel has been especially bad this week and am only here until May in any case

Best Internet Service Provider in CABA?

Fibertel seems to cut out for me here in San Telmo so often that I tend to use mobile data for work calls to avoid awkwardly cut offs. In fact, it’s been out for the last hour, maybe the heat is to blame this time?

    Buquebus Tips

I probably err a little too much on the cautious side. I read reviews that the Montevideo to Colonia bus can leave as much as an hour early so I didn’t want to take any chances. It wouldnt have been faster to fly for me based on timings (I think there’s only two flights a day, one in the...

    Buquebus Tips

I took the Buquebus last month, though the Montevideo to Buenos Aires route via Colonia. I’d recommend arriving at least 2 hours early. I had a large suitcase, a large rucksack, and a medium backpack and nothing was said to me about it being too much luggage. I didn’t see the first class area...
