My wife (Argentinian) claims you can live "well" on $1500 a month in Argentina. True?

Even if you had stated that you had $10000 to live on per month, half the expats on here would still insist that come the end of the month you would still have to rummage through the bins to put food on the table for your family. To say that $1500 isnt even enough to cover the rent in a decent...

What analysts are saying about Marcri.

I'm sorry to hear that Perry. I too hope that Argentina can turn the corner, but even if it does the next couple of years will still be shitty come what may.

What analysts are saying about Marcri.

Perry, I don't think you are a K, in fact I couldn't care less one way or another what your political leanings may be. I just think you are being overly negative about the current situation. Argentina on JP Morgan's Country Risk Index - an index used to measure the risks of investing or lending...

What analysts are saying about Marcri.

Perry, apart from the most ardent of Kircherneristas, you must be the only person in Argentina who believes the situation is worse than 2001.

Anyone use a foreign Visa as their primary payment method here?

For what its worth, I made a withdrawal today with my UK Revolut Mastercard, withdrew 3500 pesos but the rate was dead on accurate. Cost of withdrawal? 345 pesos (local charge).

Do you fear a crash similar to 2001?

There will be no banking holiday. The peso has devalued that's all. There will be no corralito. STOP TALKING S**T!

Do you fear a crash similar to 2001?

How sure are you? Forex, stocks, bonds, many options open for you to make a massive amount of money if you are indeed right.

Do you fear a crash similar to 2001?

If Argentina can see out the storm and returns to growth then it can easily, easily pay back its debts.

    A lot of advice needed

As an experience for a year or so, go for it. Long term? Give it a swerve.

Do you fear a crash similar to 2001?

Some economists have hidden agendas. I get that. Look I'm not an economist, and like you, I don't know for sure how things will play out but based on what I have read over the last few months, it seems that a default is the most unlikely of all possible outcomes. That doesn't mean that things...

Do you fear a crash similar to 2001?

Recession, even higher inflation, tough times for sure BUT you will find very, very, very few economists here or abroad who believe this will end up like 2001. Now, of course, that doesn't mean it will not happen but I think it is far more unlikely than some on here seem to think.

Although I was in Oz for 6 months I never did try vegemite, how does it compare in taste to Marmite?

    British Products

Nobody sells British tea or marmite. Hopefully in a couple of years time (though Ive been saying that for 10 years now).

    This Is Argentina

I'm not a huge fan of Macri BUT he must have said that like 1 trillion times.

"It Might Be Time To Get Out Of Argentina"

Comparing this crisis to 2001 is panicking or scaremongering. I stand by that.

"It Might Be Time To Get Out Of Argentina"

Inflation is nowhere near 40%. No offense but you sound like you are either panicking or scaremongering.

"It Might Be Time To Get Out Of Argentina"

99% of the economists I have heard speak on the matter in the last couple of days have made it clear that, although this is a crisis, this is very different to 2001. Yes, the IMF will want the govt to reduce the deficit as a condition of the loan but that in itself can only be a good thing long...
