    Favorite thing about holidays abroad?

Me too. After spending 3 Christmas's here I am dying for my kind of holiday. For me Christmas is supposed to be a house full of family, the smell of food cooking all day and music and happy people.

    Christmas in Argentina

I am really in need of a good American Christmas. My husband is from Argentina and his parents always bought them bathing suits for Christmas..and NOTHING ELSE! lol. He is so not into Christmas. And the toys here are complete crap unless you want to pay $80=100 dollars for a Fisher Price toy...

    vegetable shortening/pie plate?

You can buy it in a block. It comes with a white wrapper. It's called Vegetalina. It's by the butters. I've used it. It's a different consistency than Crisco, but it works.

    What you won't miss

I won't miss the people who like to take pictures of everyone at the table with the food in front of them so you end up eating cold food.

    Denied Exit?

I would go 3 hours early. Besides having to pay the fine, the line to go through immigration is long.

    Denied Exit?

All I was trying to do was agree with the person that said they wanted bribes, I wasn't trying to explain my story at all, that's why you don't have the details of my ridiculous experience. I wasn't trying to do anything wrong. Americans do not need to travel with a birth certificate for their...

    Denied Exit?

no, my situation is completely different. I am married to an Argentine. We aren't on tourist visas and we were going to Houston. It got too complicated. MY original comment was basically saying that if we handed him a $100 he would of stopped being an ass up in immigration and we would have been...

    Denied Exit?

Our situation was different than everyone elses. We spent 3 hours runiing back and forth and my husband realises after we get home that if had offered a bribe we would have gotten through immigration with no problem. The girl at the immigration desk got mad when we went back after United...

    Denied Exit?

I don't know. We were running back and forth for 2 hours between the immigration desk and United counter. We saw ta least 5 people who were paying because of staying here too long. United even suggested we go to the immigration office and try to leave by paying the fine, but that made the girl...

    Denied Exit?

They definitly want bribes. Now if only we were thinking like them at the time we wouldn't have lost 2 days of our vacation. Lesson learned. I did see lots of people paying at the immigration office. So it seems to be quite common.

    END of the ROAD

Hope you have a safe trip home. I don't know why people get so mad if someone wants to leave. Everyone has their reasons for coming and going and what do we care what they are. You only live once, so everone can move to all the different countries they want and go home if it doesn't suit them...

    How to block Movistar promotions?

I would imagine if you went to their office maybe they can stop it. They signed us up for some news crap that sent me 5-10 texts a day and we went it and they took care of it.

Sending a birthday present to Argentina

My cousin sent me a package of M&Ms when I first moved here. We just thought it got lost in the mail, but it turned out it sat at customs for 30 days before they returned it. A little bag of candy...

Has anyone moved from Argentina to Uruguay?

I would love to, but my husband says you can only make money in January and December, that Punta del Este is dead the rest of the year.

Life in Buenos Aires and something that I don't seem to understand

I don't think of it as hating it here. People need to be able to vent or they'll go crazy.
